How old are you?

If you are afraid to talk to your mother, find a quiet spot, get a pen and some paper (or type it and print it) and sit yourself down and write your mom a note.

I'm a mom. I know that I appreciate when my kids tell me the truth and I understand how hard it sometimes is to tell a parent the truth because you are afraid you'll get in trouble.

But your mom will even more upset if you wait until the last minute to break it to her.

So write your mom an HONEST note and tell her #1 that you are very sorry for not having told her sooner.

Tell her #2 how it got broken and how you know now to avoid doing the same thing again

Tell her #3 that you will work to repay the cost of a new camera

Tell her #4 that you were scared and worried to talk to her and that you don't want to be scared and worried to ever talk to her because she is your mom and you want to find a way to communicate better.

Tell her #5 that you love her and that you are sorry for the whole mess.

Don't lie to your mom about how it happened. And do it soon. The longer you put it off, the harder it will be.

Then after you have your note, ask your mom for 15 minutes of time alone and give her the note to read while you sit there.

Say, "Mom, please read this. I wrote it out because it was really scary for me to say it to you. I know you'll be upset and I know I should have a punishment but I didn't want to hide the truth from you anymore.

Then sit back and let her read it and see what happens.

I'm sure your mom is fair since she let you use her camera in the first place. Good luck. Don't be afraid. You'll feel better afterward.

*********************Note to the JERK who told this girl to get a conscience. You obviously don't know kids and can't remember being one yourself. Everyone gets afraid to confront a hard situation. This young lady clearly has a hard-working conscience or she wouldn't be troubled by having damaged the camera in the first place. Your reply is supposed to HELP her, not make her feel bad. A$$ hole.

If you can't replace it then obviously she will have to. Cameras are sometimes expensive. The sooner you tell her the longer time she will have to replace it. I am a parent and I personally would be more upset if I were told about this at the last moment.

buy her a new camera the same exact make. Or try glueing it with elymer's glue I break alot of things and that glue works. Her camera might not work after you glued it but atleast it will give it the illusion that it is in one piece and gives you time to buy her a new one.

If you don't have the money to buy heer a replacement, can a friend lend you some? Try looking for a used one too.

You can always tell her the truth and apologize, better if you cry while doing so.

Confess, I would be extremely angry if one of my boys broke my camera, BUT I would be hurt if they tried to deceive me. Your mother loves you and you mean more to her than her camera (I hope). By fessing up she will know that she can trust you even if you have done something you shouldn't have or didn't mean to.

Tell her the truth. She'll be mad, but appreciate your honesty ... eventually. Remember, the truth will come out one way or another. You need to learn to establish trust with people. We all make mistakes and do things we regret, but what makes us better is our willingness to own up to the mistakes.

What would you expect your mother to do if she broke something of yours that you need?

You don't need help fast - you need a conscience.

Tell the truth. It'll earn you points towards the next time you have to lie.
