Thanks for saving me from having to ask this question, and wasting my 5 points...seriously, you can check spellcheck, but it won't help with syntax (or using the wrong spelling for a different meaning to a like- sounding word, such as "to" for "too"...things like that. Other than that, a lot of different nationalities are using this site...poor English is BOUND to be a problem! Others are young, or else don't care if they are using improper English. Personally, I would CARE if I were using my points to ask a question, if people could UNDERSTAND the question, so I could get the answer I asked for!

I dislike the abbreviations and bad english. I think part of the problem is from lack of education. Of course, some people think it is cute. I have noticed yahoo took out spell check which doesn't help the problem. Not that people on here used spell check either. Most of the time, I think I must be reading questions and answers from 10 year olds. Not to bright 10 year old kids. Punctuation is a problem. I have also noticed, people don't seem to care that the same question has been submitted countless times before. Yahoo is for the masses and I am here because it is free. It is a good source of information and I get some good links when I take time to look at resolved questions. Thanks for the question, it reminds me of both the good and bad on yahoo. I am going to submit this but not before I proof read it first.

They do! They just don't do it well, and not many people have a perfect handle of grammar; nor is it use in every day activities.
I agree that too many abbreviations are being used, at times; then we have to look at the amount of space and time available. But people do have to remember that if others can't understand the sentence then there is no question or answer. My biggest concern is that a whole new language is being created and we are the ones that don't understand it.

I think it is because they are just trying to get points, fast. Also I think there are a lot of kids that don't know any better. Remember that people from all over the world are answering these questions, some don't know English that well. That I think are most of the reasons. My question would be why don't they use the spell check?

i'm individual who takes pride in strong spelling and could use spell examine even as uncertain. often times for brevity i will bypass over some articles. Previewing my submissions many times ends up in corrections or edits to strengthen readability. that is exciting that we are able to estimate the age class of a few submissions by employing the shortcoming of accuracy in those aspects.

There is also a "Search For Questions" Search Bar at the top. Don't people use that to see if their question was already answered 2,000 Times?

Great question. You would do well to look at your own question, which contains four grammar errors and one usage error.
Dude. Before you go nitpicking with others, examine yourself. Thr urge to criticize others is a primary symptom of not acting on your own issues.

I agree. But at least they could use the spell check button. Even if they don't want to proofread, they could make sure that the spelling was correct and the wouldn't have to do anything hard to do it.

Rushing way too fast.
That and sometimes probably ignorance. Or I guess lack of basic writing skills could be a problem.

I think the answer is obvious....
They think that people should spend time assisting them... without them taking the time to get their question right.
I love the ones that say... "what is the meaning of..." where it's obvious that they've not even GOOGLED it, themselves.
KIDS!
