It may be demonstrated that when a collective of a species exceeds a critical density of population the collective of that group takes on an identity of its own. Such as locus, flocks of birds, ants, wilder beast and man. Would the scientist amongst us consider the possibility that God is not a person but a phenomenon.

If this the case there is neither creation nor doubt and mankind certainly does exhibit an intelligence over and above the intelligence of the individuals of his species. Could we define this as God and settle the matter?

This is a very interesting question. I think that in many ways society has created our creator. Often as humans, when we don't have the answers to something, we create something that can answer these questions. If we didn't believe that we were created by something, that we were placed on this earth for some purpose, then what would we think? What would be our explanation for when we die? Having a creator to answer these questions takes a lot of pressure off of us. I think so many people doubt that God does exists, because there isn't concrete proof that says yes there is a god. People need to have concrete proof in order to believe that something is true. Also, there are so many questions that we can ask 'God'... There is the example of free will, but why do innocent children have to die? Why are good people harmed? There are just too many questions I think...

I'm on a bit of a rant now, so I'll just end off by saying that I think there are a lot of possible answers to explain why we were placed on this earth both philosophical and religious.

Yes we did create the 'creator'. After all, the human race needed an answer for so many things and decided that some form of god or goddess or deity or whatver fitted the bill just fine. Look at the all different religions in the world: they all have some kind of creation story, they all try to answer questions for us.

Then we got into science, but by that time the number of religions had narrowed down. Why? Well not because of any rubbish like the one true answer. Oh no. It's brute force out there and a desire to hang onto power. So the power of religion grew and did all it could (not stopped really, has it) to discredit and get rid of scientific thought unless it could cloak in pseudo-religious babble.

So to answer your third query, we didn't create 'one' but thousands and they have narrowed down to a small variety of mono-theistic religions (except religions such as Hinduism which has lots of gods and goddesses). In addition all these religions then went and produced books which now rule thought. without question or 'god' will strike you down. Truthfully, religion seems like it is the thought police. Only approved thought allowed! All these parallels with patriarchal society as well. GOD rules man and MAN rules woman. Oh dear oh dear.

And to answer your second query, people doubt because they've put their brains to work and figured all this out. We do not need a 'god' to cling to these days. Spirituality is absolutley separate from 'god'. I

A question I have asked myself over and over again. If God does exist, why didn't he implant his existence into our brains at birth? Why do we have to go to church to learn of his existence? I think the doubt comes from people not being afraid anymore to stand for what they believe. 300 years ago you would have been hung or burned at the cross for such"crazy" ideas going through your head. Now that people have this freedom to think and hypothesize there own theories, we have more and more people doubting the existence of a God. I do believe however God was fabricated to ease people minds about death and how the world works. If God did it, then there is no further question as to why. But free thinkers, such as myself, go beyond that and say that their has to be a scientific explanation for everything that happens. Right up to our existence as humans on earth. I know I can't answer your question fully but I hope my opinion on this matter at least means something.

I cling strongly to the Idea that man created God not the other way around, but when it comes down to the what ifs, If There was a creator, who knows everything, than he knew the day that he created the universe what the end result would be, he knew that people of all belief and no beliefs would spring forth from his creation and for him to condemn all those souls to eternal torture is, in short, despicable. So if God does exist and does love his creation then all souls will reach paradise, if he is vengeful of those souls who do not believe in "his word" fulling knowing that they wouldn't when he sent us down this road, than he is a sadist not worthy of my belief. Either way i am comfortable with my non-belief in a Creator.

LoL at man in his infinite wisdom creating the Cosmo's. We did it while waiting in line for our PS3's and Cabbage Patch Dolls. We are that power-full. The story of Superman is based on actual events, Gotham's Batman and Robin live, sharing a room with Elvis. No we didn't create him. It's not that people doubt God it's that they doubt a theology for the sake of making others comfortable with God. If the creator created God then it was to absolve himself of guilt for sins committed. I don't think God is fooled, I think he smiles and waits giving his creation more credit then they are willing to take responsibility for. I think this refers back to something about humor in dissecting a frog but the frog is still dead, the frog isn't laughing

religion is such a controversial subject. there may be a creator there may not. man might have created him to personify things that happen in nature for which he has no explanation. or, he might acutally be real and be helping everyone along. the current world we are living in is not ready to go entirely either way. the only thing that really matters when it comes to religion is whether you believe god exists. by doubting and questioning your own faith and your own devotion to your religion, you can either become more holy, or can less complicate your life. both are good outcomes.

Some people doubt because that is the nature of human beings. We question. God made us all different, and I believe that means that He made us all with the possibilit of not believeing in Him. I think He has more respect for those who adamantly believe He does not exist than those that don't know what they think, or 'believe' in Him because someone else tells them they should.

Of course, that's subject to my personal belief, but every answer you're gonna get will be.;-)

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Most people want to see physical evidence of a divine presence. That is where faith comes in. It can be said that Man created God to create Man.

There always has been some form of religion. Even the most ancient tribal peoples have some kind of spiritual awareness. Cave-men had those earth mother fertility goddeses (those ones with pregnant bellies and big boobs).
Personally I think this can because in some way the presence of the divine is innately self evident but we can choose the ignore it.
