"Any sufficently advanced science is indistinguishable from 'magic' "
So, perhaps they are the same thing....
No reason he shouldn't be - particularaly if you look at the Merlin as a position at the head of the world's Druid enclaves and not the same guy as in the Arthur stories. But then, he was "trapped in a crystal cave for all time" and he allegedly lives backwards - so perhaps the old gent is still around looking like an infant, or trapped in timelessness (in his crystal cave, in a tree half aflame, etc, et. al)

By at least one definition, "magic" is the explanation one uses when scientific explanation cannot be made. I don't believe in that kind of magic, but I can believe in a definition when you substitute the word "scientific" with "technological".
I believe that all things are subject to laws, and therefore can be explained "scientifically". Howevr at any particular time, the technology to accomplish something may be nonexistent because the relevant science is unknown. So before 1500 it would be impossible for ANY description of how television might work (for instance), and therefore a 16th century man could only explain television as magic: he could hardly do anything else.

yes but a lot of "magic" is just science or nature. I don't really believe in all the Merlin-type magic though. You could call some forms of medicine magic because it was considered to be so before science explained it.

Something is magic when it redefines your previous notion of what is possible and what is real. Since nobody knows absolutely everything that there is to be known around us, there will always be something truly magical out there for everybody....
If you know how to do something that someone next to you has no idea it could be done, at that moment, you are Merlin... and I hope its fun for you too when it happens.

Unfortunately, you're asking a quesiton about evil. Yes, there is magic- if you are sufficently evil, satan may give you access to some of his power.
On the other hand, I've been told that every time you do something evil, you pay for it with 7 positive things. I don't know if this is true but I wouldn't run the risk of making G-d angry, if this makes sense.
Seek to do what is right, so when you do die that you will be in a good light with G-d. Seek Christ, seek the truth as you understand it- good luck

Depends on your definition of magic, with my definition yup Merlin still is having fun..
Magic is all about perception, a good magician alters the way you percieve the things around you and this happens all the time with advertisers on tv, politicians and newspapers.

Great question....
I live in England and have been to Merlin's cave: it is wicked...
Magic or not? who cares, everyone loves thinking it is real and the entire movie industry spends billions re-creating it for our pleasure...
Keep on believing, because without a little fantast in our lives, there is only the humdrum

yea and i am serious. magic is not only a foolish trick like making a bird appear out of the air and something like that. magic is something beyond that. magic is something wonderful. something that makes you feel special. there is magic in everything. magic is a deep curiosity.there is magic in nature. have u ever wondered why a little puppy follows u for a short time. because it likes u . it wants to get ur love. there is magic in love. who created the earth? surely there isn't a man named GOD who sits there and creates us. there is magic in that also!see ur mom always know only at one glance at ur eyes that u have done something wrong!
well look beyond that my friend and u will see that the world is a beautiful place to live in. there is magic everywhere.
