I've memorized short books by using the following method:
1) Read a sentence aloud three times.
2) Write the sentence down.
3) Read what you've written three times aloud.
4) Recite the sentence.
4) Repeat these steps until you've memorized five consecutive sentences.
5) Recite the five sentences three times aloud from memory.

The next day, review the previous day's block(s) until you can recite it(them). Then, memorize the next block.

It's amazing how quickly you can memorize large blocks of text using the above method!

Russo, the best way is by association.
If the prose has characters in it, associate them with people you know or celebrities.
Then, 'splice' the prose and imagine 'your' people doing or saying the words/actions involved.
You´ll be amazed at the result, once you can associate it with something that is so very familiar to you!
Good prosing!
