depends on the relationship. But notwithstanding everyone needs some of both. But I prefer a good relationship to solitude, and I prefer solitude to a bad relationship, or even a mediocre relationship.

I have to agree with waiting2inhale2. For some reason when you're in a relationship you feel more like solitude is where it's at; although that's not a healthy situation.

I've been single a very long time. I kind of prefer it now, but keep a circle of friends to fulfill the social needs like being appreciated, having a focus outside of myself, etc., It really depends on your own makeup.
I was married for a few years and really did enjoy the marriage, but it takes two to tango, and somebody wasn't happy due to unmet expectations. Since then, I've learned that I'm not responsible for other people's happiness, I'm only responsible for being right, good, and pleasant. If they choose not to be happy, no matter what, they won't be happy.
I'm not opposed to being in a relationship now, I just enjoy the freedom that comes without expectations of being right, good, or pleasant all the time.
Too many responses to your question are self centered. Relationships are not just about what you get out of them. They're also about what you contribute to them.
ps. read the book, Happiness is a Serious Problem by Dennis Prager.

It all depends on what's going on in my life and what's best for me. I've been in relationship after relationship and essentially always had a boyfriend since I was 13. I'm single now and I kind of like it I can focus on school and making myself a stronger person... every once in a while I'll think to myself that it'd be nice to take a guy on a trip.. but that's what guy friends are for

Solitude is so depressing, although relationships can be filled with mistrust, worries, jealousy, time schedules, etc... they are definitely worth it. There is nothing like coming home knowing someone who truly loves you is waiting home for you. It's a good feeling.

I'm in a relationship and, while I love spending time with him, I crave more solitude.
He works from home and he's ALWAYS HERE! He's here when I leave for work, he's here when I get home!
Since he works from home, we recently moved to the smaller town (pop.11,000) where I work and he doesn't have any friends here, so he never really goes out.
When he does go out with friends, it's couples friends and he wants me to go with him.
I love when he goes on business trips! It's my only alone time.

solitude is the way to go. there is no stress, no expectations, and you can do whatever the hell you want and you dont have to worry about hurting someones feelings.
