Because they are trying to attract other men. Men consider appearance to be the most important attribute in looking for a sex partner.
Straight men are trying to attract women. Women do not put appearance at the top of the list. They put something else first - money/power/ability to support them and possible offspring.
(and there are plenty of attractive straight men, too)

Or could possibly be that the only contact you have had with gay men is from television shows and movies. I am not saying that's fact, but a possibility. Go out, meet some real gay men, do a survey and figure it out.

It is because we care about our bodies and keep good health. If you care for that too you can achieve health and a good look, You don't have to be gay to look good, that's a falacy! It's like saying that just because you're straight you should have a beer belly, 3-day-beard, wear flanel shirts and spent the day sitting on the couch watching NFL re-runs

Maybe it's because they care more about their appearance, but I wouldn't over generalize - I think there are plenty of straight men who like to look good too (like metrosexuals).
