Indians are not so foolish (yourself also counts), as you think. It is not the case of Indian politicians only, the politicians of the whole world just try to dupe the voters. Their promises are something, but their deeds are something else. That is why the literate voters mostly abstain from voting. The literates do not want to get involved in the election of some bad candidates. Voting remains mostly between 35% to 65%. Most of them are Jhuggi Jhonpri wala. They fall within the category of have nots and get some brief momentary benefit (liquor or some cash, as their daily wage) through the stooges of the politicians. Rest of the voters include the personal army of supporters of the politicians (rather those persons who had to get some personal advange from the Government through them) and the students between the age group of 18-21 years, who have recently become eligible to vote and they generally vote either just for the sake of fun or as an experiment, without going through the credentials of the candidates. You can check these statistics. You can't find the real democracy in whole of the world. The candidates come in the politics with a motto of getting some easy profession and not as a motto of service to people.

Secondly, the election process is also faulty. The candidates and parties have become the most shrewed but there is no reform in the election laws for decades together to tackle with the irregularities of the elections. The people had to vote without knowing even abc of the candidates. When the people don't know the background of the candidates, there must be some system that the Election Commission should issue the Bio-datae of the candidates, to make the voters aware of the candidates of their constituencies.

I hope, by going through all these constraints with the people, you would like to change your opinion about not only the Indians, but also the voter community of the world, as a whole.

hey dude dont jst single out us indians
a large proprtion the world 2day follows democracy
yeah bt in india more than the candidate its the party tht
he/she represents tht matters
ppl mainly vote 4 the party or ideology tht they can relate to
so many times the candidates profile isnt really considered
so a good candidate frm a weak party may lose to a useless one from a strong party

We have got no other option. We only provide commentary as keen political observers but never take a step to get involved in it as clean up the mess. So in the process we only feed in to the vultures who are our candidates & would-be netas.

Duhhh

Do you think Indians are the only ones that do that.

What about Christian Right (neo-cons) they elected a mad man that openly laughs at them.

Jesus told the soldiers to do harm to no man Bush told them to kill women and children, torture the suspects. And to obey him not the constitution.
