then you need cable modem connection like NTL...apart from that you need a phone line, when they say BT phone line they dont just mean services with BT...if it actually says BT on your white phone box fitted to the wall in your house that means you can use most ADSL providers.

You don't need a phone line at all for most broadband providers. You just need a cable modem. And, of course, all of the woreless broadband providers wouldn't require a phone line at all.

Well we've only just switched from BT to TalkTalk because for £20.99 p.m. you get your line rental, unlimited national and international calls and free broadband for life. And we won't be renting from BT anymore so it must be okay. By the way I don't work for them! Just thought it was a brilliant deal and obviously you wanted advice so hope it helps.

I have just changed to talk talk ..free broadband and unlimited calls ..sick of bt charges and service..and poor service ..change from bt you need not to worry

I'm on Ntl - does not need a phone line. go to www.ntlworld.com for more info (trust you are in the uk)

ntl don't need a bt phone line. their customer service is sh*t though.

Telewest -Blueyonder but not everyone is compatable.but they offer really good deals.
