I definitely remember my favs.. used to tape them in fact because it was sooo new and cool to see them ..i had vh1 b4 i had cable even..lol but yes what comes to mind were David lee Roth ..'just a gigolo" and then Madonna 'like a virgin.. even remember the contest MTV had to pick a best rated video for one of her newer songs at that point..(i 4get which song..) Lol-- but also remember taping alot of twisted sister, whitesnake, motley crue, ratt..good stuff So yes as a thirty something chick..I do miss some of the old videos and how they played more on those stations compared to how many videos that they play now.. good question and thanx 4 bringing up good times!!

Far and away, the best video has to be Take On Me by A-Ha. Others were good, but this one blew them all away (and, even in the age of total digital animation, still rules the pack).

But there were other good videos from cinematography and/or artistic perspectives, like "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson with the light-up street tiles, or any of Peter Gabriel's material, like "Sledgehammer" with the stop-motion animation.

Some weren't SEEN as good (like Rio by Duran Duran or anything by Adam Ant), but were still good music... so the video didn't matter (who could actually look at the TV while dancing around the house :) ).

And then there were the more "interesting" videos, at least from the perspective of an adolescent teen boy, like "She's a Beauty" by the Tubes, "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael, and almost everything that Madonna put out.

BTW, did you hear that MTV productions is looking to start a third music video channel? One that actually plays videos and doesn't have ANY game shows, reality TV or anything OTHER than music videos? It'll be like jumping back in time by 20 years!

:)

You just made a list of all my favorite music videos from the 80's. Don't forget Jump (also by Van Halen) and Hot for Teacher. Just about any music video from the 80's is awesome.

Yankee Rose is a great video. So is Panama. Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home is a good one. And throw in "Smokin' in the Boys Room"

Anything with David Lee Roth in it was funny, I loved watching those. Other than that Headbangers ball was my favorite time to watch videos.
