Matt P said A-Rod has caused the yankees to get worse & worse, but you can't blame 1 person for the whole team not playing to their potential just like you can't credit only 1 person for winning a game. That's not fair. It's a team effort. I believe the Yankees need a little work, but they have great potential. Once they're firing on all cylinders, they'll be unstoppable ! So sorry, I don't agree that the Yanks are overrated. I like St. Lu, though, too. : )

The Yankees buy their championships by getting all the good players in free agency. Otherwise if they where in a small market area without George Steinbrenner they would be just like most other teams.

The Steinbrenners are overrated this year, but are not to be counted out. The teams to watch are in the AL Central. As for the Cardinals, they won't be running away with their division, and if Cincinnati didn't have such an abysmal bullpen the Cards would be in second place.
It could be worse...rumor has it the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be placed in the AL West next year (just kidding).

Everybody ALWAYS hates the Yankees. In most baseball movies, they Yankees are always the bad guys. When they come to play your team, the stadium is always full, because everyone loves to see them lose. But just because you hate them, don't underrate them.
Currently, at 50w/35l, a .588 average, they are ahead of the entire NL (except the Mets). The NL includes both Cards & Astros. They are ahead of 10 of the 14 AL teams, making them 4th in the league, and 5th in all of MLB. That's fifth out of 30 teams. They currently have the highest Elimination number in all of MLB, and they're only three games out in the AL East, with 81 to go.
And, mind you, this is with half of the pitching staff injured or incompetent, three important players on the DL, and multiple others on it and off it. You can hate them, but you have to take them seriously.

Yes, they give each player like 8 billion dollars a game and they have like 5 all-stars and they cant even beat crappy teams half the time.
