Local gas stations have just started caring the new ethanol gas and it's about 60 cents cheaper per gallon. My question is can any type of engine handle this gas? Does it have an impact on the car's performance or gas mileage?

Don't know what kind of ethanol gas you're talking about. Where I live, we have ethanol blended into our gasoline - about 10%. All engines can run on this, and most can run up to 20% without serious problems. Generally, the newest cars won't see a noticeably lessened performance although the older a car is, the worse it will perform on this ethanol blend - I've heard that some people have lost upwards to 10% of their highway economy with the low ethanol blends.

E-85 is an 85% blend of ethanol to gasoline. This fuel can be used on "flex fuel" vehicles - you will want to consult your owner's manual to see if your car can use it. I've heard that some flex fuel vehicles get comparable gas mileage, while I've heard that others run around 75% their normal gas mileage with e-85.

60 cents cheaper per gallon? Where I'm living (Southeast Wisconsin), the price of a gallon of ethanol is MORE EXPENSIVE than a gallon of gasoline.

NOOOOOOOOOO DONT USE IT.......Its the new ethanol E-85 or E-75 They just put up a plant the town over from me and its more beans and less gas I heard some of the new cars like 2007 and newer can handle it but as for older cars you would have to buy a conversion kit and that would run ya about 1000-2000 and for gas mileage it just depends on how ya drive lol..and for performence I would think ya would lose from horseys means its more beans in it......but dont use it unless you get converted you could really clog up some hoses and injectors with it

If it's pure ethanol, then you must have a vehicle capable of using it. Ford had a line of cars that carried the FFV label (flexible fuel vehicle). Check your owner's manual before using. I'm sorry, but I find it very hard to believe it's 60 cents cheaper per gallon. It actually costs as much or more to make than gasoline, currently.

Ethanol must be used with gasoline. Ethanol is in ordinary words 10 % ethanol something else is customary gasoline. regardless of in case you'll get a larger p.c. to gasoline. The 1950 automobile ought to run on organic moomshine. regardless of the indisputable fact that new automobile can not run on organic ethanol. because they hace injector. The organic ethanol must be to dry. So something must be extra lube the injectors. gasoline is the for this interest.

AH! Normal cars CAN'T use ethanol gas. Ethanol cars have specially modified engines to use this gas. As for gas mileage, its beyond me.

Check your owners manual to see if your car is E85 compatible.
