It's not my favorite Dickens novel. Our Mutual Friend still holds that place, but I have read and reread Bleak House, and it still stands up well. The characters are memorable and delightful, especially the comic stereotypes, and Dickens' satiric view of the British court system would be truly humorous if it weren't also realistic--and if the court system currently building in the US weren't getting worse!

And it's fun to find at least one house in the novel that isn't bleak. That's part of what brings me back to Bleak House, and to Dickens generally.

For some reason I find it harder to understand then other Dickens novels. It goes off on stange tangents right in the middle of sentences and the forward motion of the story seems to get tripped up.

Like all other Dickens it is overly long winded and rather boring.
