My doctor put me on 100mg Topamax for Migraines a few months ago (50mg in the AM and 50mg in the PM). I was exhausted all the time and couldn't think straight. Being a stay at home mom was becoming extremely difficult. So I told my doctor that I wanted off the drug. He suggested that I cut back to just 50mg in the PM and if the migraines started back up I could take 75mg up to 100mg at night instead of the morning. This has really been helping. I'm not sleepy during the day....but I'm sleeping GREAT at night. I'm still not "myself" during the day, but I'm not as confused as I was when I was taking the Topamax in the morning. The side effects do seem to lessen the longer I am on the medication. Good luck and don't give up on it yet...give it a little more time. Topamax has really worked well for my migraines.

I was put on Topamax for the same reason. The side effects only lasted about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks. Just a heads up, but may also experience tingling in your legs and feet as your body adjusts to this new medication. I was assured that this is normal. It does go away. Just be patient. This drug has been incredible in preventing my migraines. Best wishes to you. Please keep me informed on your progress with this new treatment.

Medications that effect your brains chemical composition will always make you "feel funny" at first. Give it a few weeks, if you are still feeling uncomfortable, consult with your family physician.
