Woodstock was the first meeting of alter-cultures that revolved around a certain change in society after WWII and with the boomers. It centered around rock music, which was "new" then and grounded the lifestyle of alot of us today. It would never work today...then, it was something out of a fantasy that actually came true.

I am too young for WS, but from what I've read, it was a turning point to usher in drugs, sex and rock and roll. Freely and openly.
It was also a protest of the Viet Nam war to some degree.
