Wow... when did the problem of overpopulation become Bono's again?? What a ridiculous question. Last I checked Bono wasn't responsible for overpopulation. And... how exactly does one person solve overpopulation anyway?
I love all the ridicule that is thrown at Bono, I really do. It truly shows the ignorance of those throwing it. Bono has been an activist for human rights for over 20 years. He does this through his music and uses his access to the media to talk about the wrongs here and draw attention to the issues. If you have a problem with something in the world why don't YOU step up and do something about it? Do something uselful with your time and that issue instead of using your time throwing ridicule toward a rock star and posting stupid questions on the internet.
Hmm... there's a thought, huh? Oh... but that would require you to actually DO something wouldn't it ? You know... be an activist for a cause you feel is important... like Bono and like the rest of us standing up and using our time to talk to politicians and our government representatives to end world poverty.
He who has no intention of offering a way or a solution has no right to accuse or ridicule those who are. Grow up.

Seen that episode of South Park called "Smug Alert"? If not, watch the episode. George Clooney gets a bashing, LOL
It's a shame Bono didn't get a mention.
A cloud of smug in South Park develops and begins to combine with the cloud of smug from San Francisco. In a series of scenes parodying the film The Perfect Storm, McFriendly then reveals that a cloud from George Clooney's 78th Academy Awards acceptance speech — claiming that Hollywood was ahead of the curve on social issues — will soon drift into the center of the "super cell", combining to create the "perfect storm of self-satisfaction". San Francisco and South Park will be completely destroyed. Stan must help the town to eliminate hybrid cars; Cartman — desperate to get Kyle back so he can resume hating him — plans a daring mission to infiltrate San Francisco, capital of the hippie movement, and find and rescue his foe.

Overpopulation isn't a problem. Therefore, yes - Bono does like to see his face in the media.
And I bet Bono would have a climax if Yahoo "Check Spelling" didn't declare his name "misspelled".

I wish more people would use their fame for worthy issues!!! I would definitely have to say that he does not like to see his face in the media more than solving worth while problems!!!
Do you not realize how tremendously popular U2 has been for the past 20 years?! I think it's pretty sad to doubt someone who is trying to help (and it is POVERTY not overpopulation by the way) when there are so many loser celebrities that have themselves plastered everywhere (Paris Hilton to name one) that have no cares about the rest of the world (she still wears fur). There is a big difference between using a world issue to gain celebrity and using celebrity to raise awareness. Unfortunately in our world money is power, and power is the only way to make change a reality. I sincerely think he is USING his power to make change rather than what you are suggesting (that he is USING poverty to create celebrity).

I really don't know what good it does to put his face in the media for spending some of his bazillion dollar fortune on helping the world. I'm sure that most people in the country would do the same thing as him, if they had a truckload of money to spend in the first place. So, wow. A rich guy donated to charity. That seems to be the end of it, to me. No big deal.

Does it matter? He's a musician--a world-famous musician. His face is known everywhere. Why not use it to not only promote his music but a cause he cares about? Angelina Jolie does it. Susan Sarandon does it. Lots of celebrities do. It beats doing the Star Jones or Paris Hilton thing and using celebrity to say, "I'm better than everyone else and I'm going to show it by being snotty and stupid." If you've got money, you may as well share--you can't take it with you.

Yes, and the world hunger issue is his brand to hook you on product.
Just like the Madonna-Brittany "its OK to be a slut" Brand
It is what it is -- but I do like Bono's branding better then the other two anyway. At least the first one tries to save children while the second one has resulted in a lot children without decant or ready parents.

Not too many wealthy celeb's go to so much effort
to really try to make the world a better place. He could just hang out in one of his mansions drinking wine from 24k gold goblets, doing the rockstar thing. Bravo, Bono!

Bono is doing something about the problems in Africa. Why does it bother you so much that he's in the news because of his largess? I commend him and pray that other wealthy people will follow his example.

No, he's using his fame to draw attention to overpopulation along with the other issues he's interested in. That's the same thing Angelina Jolie's doing. They're putting their fame to good use.
