I think that would be a great idea as long as there were guidelines.. not until a certain age and/or a certain number of children. The cost of a vasectomy is about 2k (My husband is getting one) so the money spent on vasectomies would be by far less than the money spent on welfare to support children that people can't afford. Also, they should have to undergo some counseling beforehand to make sure it's what they really want.

Also, I'm not completely unapposed to sterilizing deadbeat parents by court order after they have their third or fourth child and refuse to support it.

yes. but it must be supported by an affidavit that the person subject for sterilization voluntarily engaged in the process.

I think the government ought to offer a once-in-a-lifetime $10,000 tax credit to anyone who does, and make it a felony for a doctor to reverse it until the $10,000 is paid back.
