As one of the creative arts - and one that is very available to all of us - it is inspired by people, their day to day lives, or extraordinary events. As such, music is a living chronicle of what is going on in the hearts and minds of people of the day. You might say "it is just the writer who's heart is on display" but I think not. In this capitalistic society, those that endure are those that the people will pay for. If it was not something that everyone could relate to, it would not sell so it would not likely be produced - of course that is much less true with paintings, but holds in many of the arts including music.
It can reflect what we know, how we feel, what we hope for, what we don't know - our own self doubt. Music can sometimes serve the same purpose as religion. It can help us turn around a difficult frame of mind, show us that others have gone through the same things we have or truly understand us - because millions of people love and can relate to that same song, we are much less alone.
Peace!

Music often reflects the society we live in. It can prove to be another form of communication to send messages to people about trying times they face in their lives. Music can be a positive thing and it can be a negative thing. It depends on what the music lyrics are geared to and what the messages are saying to us.
Music can be a calming experience. It can relieve the stress we find ourselves in. Sometimes it can make us feel worse than we did before we listened to music.
Music is powerful especially to the young teenagers and young adults. It can be inspirational or it can be filled with hate. Music is a mixed bag, and with so many different types of music out there, can cause all kinds of things to happen both positive and negative. Music and society seems to go hand in hand.

Both music and society evolve. They help each other evolve. We could not have music without society prompting it. But we can have society without music, but it would be a very boring place. Music makes the world go round. In every language we have differences, but music is universal.

Because music comes from society, without it, the music industry would be nothing. Real music comes from experience, and in life experience comes from living. Most people don't listen to the words of music, listen and they tell stories. Pain, pleasure, and all that is relative in the world.
