Over the past few days, when my DSL modem's on there is static on the phone line. I do have a wireless router, and so does my neighbor, which my laptop ocassionaly recognizes. I secured it. Sprint said it was because of the interferrence of their wireless with mine but this is odd since I know they've had their router for while and everything was fine. I unplugged the router and connected my modem directly to my laptop and there's still static on the phone. There are filters on the phones. When I turn the modem off, the static goes away. Could this be a bad modem or on Sprints end?

I had something similar happen, my DSL speeds were horrible **unless** i was talking on the phone, and then it got to where it should be. The problem was that I didn't have filters everywhere.

I think you did the right thing by connecting your computer to the DSL line directly, that pretty much eliminates your wireless stuff, and your neighbors, as a problem.

It's hard to check that there are filters everywhere since it's so easy to put extensions on phone wiring. Can you go to your phone box, disconnect everything and hook up just a phone w/ filter and your modem? If it's still the case, then it probably is either Sprint's problem or your local phone company.

Good luck!

Have the line tested - again if they did it before, as mine was doing that for awhile too (I have ATT/SBC) and it turned out to be a problem somewhere between the station hub and here. It took three tries for them to find the glitch in the line, but I have not had a problem since. Call when you are experiencing the problem, as there is a better chance of them finding the problem.
Also, have you tried switching channels on your phone? A different channel can clear up that static sometimes (there should be a 'select channel' button on your phone).
Oh, we had to replace the filter on our phone line once as well awhile back, as it somehow did not work as well anymore.
Hope this helped!

you need to go to best buy and get line filters for dsl dial up
they will take out the static , put them on other phones and other equipment. I'm surprise they didn't give you some when you got DSL
