Too many families. Big gap from college kids to family unit. I'm a single 30-something looking for more of the same. Good outdoorsey town with fun nightlife. Beach front would be great. and Jobs, public transportation, etc. Preferably west coast. Some say Phoenix is a good affordable middle ground, but I'm concerned b/c I hear it's real crimey. Honolulu too expensive. Same with SD, but shouldn't it cost more to live in a great city that has all you want? Suggestions?

The woman who said Raleigh is right about all the jobs. It is called the Golden Triangle with three towns there with lots of high tech jobs. Also Denver has a lot of 30 year olds, Boston, NYC if you can afford the housing, Philadelphia has a young people scene too. I live in Tampa and there are a lot of people in their 30s here, especially in South Tampa with lots of bistros and good restaurants, walk to stores. Tampa is close to lots of beaches and easy to get to nature places, but the salaries are less than in the northeast. Nightlife in Ybor City where young people come to from all over the west coast of Florida. It's a lot cheaper to live here than Miami.

absolutely...you will find that s.d. is about the the best place to live in the u.s..
subcribe to the san diego union (news paper) for a few months...check out the job listings and the weather. there is work here but we compete in many instances with our friends from across the border. if you are bi lingual (?) in english and spanish your chances for employment are far greater. next issue would be money...you cannot...repeat, cannot come here without reserve funds. save your money, secure a job before you jump on a plane. then go for it, you are young enough to start a new life in a great city. san diego county is huge!! there are many different towns that you can live in relatively close proximity to the many beaches that are a part of s d. remember... if things don't work out you have family that you can go back to. but my feeling is that once you get a taste of the life style here you will do all that you can to remain here. good luck to you

Even tho I am much older, I suggest Raleigh, North Carolina. Just moved here and love it. There are many younger people here, jobs seem to be available, you are two hours away from the ocean, Wilmington and Beaufort, NC. Crime does not seem to be a problem, lots of do and see and it does not cost alot to be here. People are great, lots of lakes so if you are into boating or water sports, it is a good place. No winter to speak of they tell me and the summer has been fine so far, temps not too hot but there is humidity to deal with.

Living in a big city does cost more, but you also earn more. It nevre really evens out, but it does make a big difference.
I would suggest the northern California area or Oregon. Maybe Monterey or Santa Cruz for California or Portland for Oregon. I just know that if you're looking for a relationship, Southern California is not the place to do it. I may be married, but I see my friends go through dating hell here. People who come to LA mostly are looking to further themselves, not be in a "binding" relationship.

I currently live in Los Angeles and enjoy it thoroughly. There is a relaxed attitude here and plenty of excitement. It is a youthful and vibrant city. It is a little expensive, but many of us do get by on the bare minimum. Frankly I wouldn’t want to live elsewhere.

You gotta be crazy ! Madison is one of the cities with the best quality of life in the US and it is close to Milwakee and Chicago.
Anyway I love Madison because it is the complete opposite of where I live, Miami. So i guess if you want something that is not Madison, go with Miami

Come over to Minneapolis/St. Paul. You have your choice of either Minneapolis (great nightlife, diversity), Saint Paul (more family town), or a variety of suburbs with outdoor activities.

Sick of your town? BAH! I live in a town with 650 +/- people. I don't even go outside much because its so boring. Here it is my 20th birthday and I'm not going out. I'm going to go to college for 2 years, and then I'm packing to Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia.
Christ... do not come to maine... Maine sucks.

San Francisco or LA....but research the place where you plan on living...1 bedroom apts. aren't too bad..but they go up in price QUICKLY...but you get paid much more than in Wisconsin..
