I don't think that it is bad to switch formulas as long as you do it gradually and with the consent of your pediatrician.
Just to let you know not all formulas are made the same. Some proteins are broken down further so that they are easier to digest. You baby may not be allergic to the expensive one because his digestive organism may not have to work as hard to process the formula.
My son has severe milk allergies and we had to put him on neocate. Now that is expensive for a 14 oz can I use to pay 32.00. Each of these lasted 2-3 days at most. I had to buy it for two years because his allergies were so severe. Lets just say I was on a very tight budget. But, it was worth it because now I have a healty little boy.
I wish you lots of luck! Also try logging onto the website and downloading coupons that may also help. Or try buying it by the case online- It looks to be significantly less.

Each formula is made differently and so it can upset babies tummy. You could start mixing the cheaper formula with the original formula. And slowly switch him that way.
I wish people would realize that you are not feeding your child adult soy milk. There is soy based formulas. I too had to be fed soy milk due to allergies.

A baby should be on breast milk or formula until they are a year old. It has added nutrients that cow's milk or soy milk doesn't.
Try a formula such as Carnation Good Start. It's not necessarily bad to switch, you just should do it slowly. One day -- 6 oz. current / 2 oz. new mixed. A couple days later -- 5 oz. current/ 3 oz. new -- a couple days -- 4 oz and 4 oz. -- until you are fully on the new stuff.
Good luck.

He would probably have to go through an adjustment period, which means he could go through some upset tummy stages... you might just want to keep some pedilyte on hand so that he won't get dehydrated. I had to switch formulas when my baby was about 6 months and that is what happened to him... and he was in the 95th percentile... BIG BABY! ha!

Well have heard it is bad to do so but I have done that with my 10 month old son and he was fine. I personally think its up to you and you will know if the milk is agreeing with your child or not. At the end of the day it is up to you what you do with your child as every child is different. Good Luck and do what you think is right for your child no one can tell you otherwise.

It is bad to constantly change formula on a younger child...I would try one that is cheaper but relatively the same for a week or so See how he does if ok then stick with it..But it's harder on you if baby can't adjust to the new formula and can't sleep, fussy, gassy etc..Good luck

I think the issue is one of trying to find one that he both likes and to which he isn't allergic. You've already been through the process once so I'm sure you'll know the warning signs. Move along carefully and I'm sure you can find one that will work for you without too much disruption.

Because it can upset his system because he is use to the taste of one brand of milk.....it is like us as adults going from real milk to soy milk,,,,it does not taste the same and we have a tendency of not consuming it all.

well it is harder for the stomach to get used to how to digest different things, but he is 7 months and I am sure you are introducing him to foods, so go ahead and change it, I have changed with my daughter who had colic, and i was told to change until I found one that worked and she was 2 months premature, go ahead and do it.
