It is legal to own any book in the USA. There are no federal laws in the USA banning the making, selling or ownership of silencers. The National Firearms Act of 1934 required that all silencers, short barreled rifles and shotguns, and machineguns be registared and a $200 tax paid when transferring them.

I build my own silencers using the ATF form 1. This is the form used for making NFA weapons such as short barreled shotguns, silencers, pen guns, and machineguns. An ATF form 4 is used for transfers from persons such as licensed dealers.

A good book for learning about silencers is Al Paulson's Silencer History and Performance available at Amazon. Look here for the ATF website, http://www.atf.treas.gov/pub/fire-explo_pub/nfa.htm

BTW, I have been legally making my own silencers for a few years now, and the ATF has not shown any interest in me at all.

THe book is ok, but dont get caught with it, and dont try it unless you kow what the hell you are doing. Silencers fall under the Federal Law guidelines of the ATF, and no one wants the BATMAN in there life.

No--not against the law to own the book---just against the law to make or own the thing explained therein---big mistake--heavy penalty--long range problems for you indeed
