I don't plan on dying right away, but life is fragile. I was thinking of my holier than thou next of kin who would no doubt scan through my computer after my unfortunate demise, although nothing illegal mind you, some pictures, emails, and websites would be frowned upon.

I'm sure you are thinking, you are dead why care, but my family would already be mourning their wayward son, why cause them more grief.

Do you believe this is a silly thing for me to worry about?

No, dearheart, its not a silly thing. You obviously love your family even though they disapprove of your lifestyle. I would suggest you appoint a legal executor of your will and belongings. That way he/she could take care of the things you're most worried about before your family got their hands on them. Thank you so much for caring enough to ask.

depends on what kind of person you are. if you care about your families opinions about you-which you do since you asked this question, then do what others have suggested and have a trusted friend either delete all the files, or leave your computer and such to a good friend who wouldn't mind the contents of the computer.

now if you're the kind of person who just doesn't care, then i'd suggest having that trusted friend send the most obscene of the pics and emails to the one family member who made your life a living hell. maybe crazy old aunt louise would pass out from seeing the candid shots taken at the folsom street fair, or that one stuck up sibling who can't even be in the same room as you because they can't just love you as the family you are, needs to see that website of just what goes on at bigbadleatherdaddies.com

i know that the second suggestion is pretty out there, especially for someone who is so concerned and loves his family so much, even though they've made it hard on you. but i just thought since others have suggested the right thing, i'd throw something else in the mix for a laugh. and besides, karma is a b@$%# !!!

have a good one!!

Not really, but I think I'm taking this a step further. Let's say you had a partner that you wanted to make all the arrangements, get your things, etc., that person would need power of attorney to over rule your family. So, write up a will and stipulate who gets what or give all the power to a supportive friend who really knows what you want and can protect your privacy.

I don't believe that it's a silly thing for you to worry about...but I do think that your being gay is your families problem and not yours...
you've already come to terms with who you are....now it's up to your family to accept you...If they don't then you can still be proud of who you are. I hope (I know) this will all work out for you...coming out is the hardest part.

Yes...you're paying interest on a loan that may never come due! Go about your life; lock your files. Have a trusted friend crash your computer if something should happen to you. (I have a friend who was going to get my sex toys out of the house for me when I was gone cause I didn't want anyone to see them...I finally just threw them in the trash...Ha!)PLEASE....love your family and enjoy yourself and stop worrying!

Who cares what anyone thinks, are you happy with yourself? Then that's all that matters and if they can't accept you for who you are then that's their problem because i'm sure they'd be missing out on a wonderful person...
