I don't think that it is path to world peace, the number of wars caused by secular powers and fought for secular purposes would put the lie to that belief, but I feel it is an important starting point. Religion helps to prolong and justify wars and atrocities, as can be shown by Israel/Palestine, the crusades, the witch hunts etc. So if we can remove on justification, we might be able to remove the remainder.

I dont think that has anything to do with World Peace. World Peace will not occur. People find peace within themselves and they find ways to live in peace amongst others but taking that mentality, lets say Buddhist mentality, to the world may be a nightmare. Everyone wants to talk of peace but none of us truely seek it out. We still cling onto what stresses us out, what angers us because we Humans are flawed, in that we seek what is not right for our own good.

"Separation of church and state"....First used by Supreme Court Associate Justice Hugo Black. He had a burning hatred of Catholics and once successfully defended a man for killing a preist. He was also a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Ask yourself, does this sound like someone who was interested in world peace?

To answer this question, look towards the Crusades and the real meaning behind them. Controlled by the church to keep familial fighting down, start a crusade.

Possible. Look at the Arab countries. They're ruled by religious people that instill the laws on religion on the populace. Other countries don't have religious leaders and they do okay. All depends on how fanatical the populace of the country is I suppose.

Until there is one world church and one world state we will have to keep them separate. Too many ideologies, too many Gods and certainly enough opinions.

It is the best way found so far.It does not ensure peace (see Hitler) but it lets you believe in whatever god you want, in whatever way you see Him in your life
