This proverb presents the same sentiment as the biblical verses in Matthew 7:3-5. 3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. What it means is that all people have their own faults and problems to deal with. You should not be sticking your nose into other people's business because it is likely that you yourself have plenty of your own to take care of. A related sentiment states that advice should only be given if it is asked for. Another is "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?".
