For sure! Just work with Downs Syndrome kids. They struggle everyday to achieve things we take for granted, they are often teased and ridiculed! Other kids are cruel and when they are adult it doesn't improve much.
But, I've never know one Downs person who was sour, negative or hateful! Always a smile, and, oh how they light up at the least compliment. They are mostly gentle sweet people, ignorant of the ugliness around them. They always seem happy, maybe not blissful, but content as most of us are not. .

It is NOT because ignorance is bliss.....It is because they get up each morning and when they look into the mirror THEY LIKE THE PERSON THEY SEE THERE and they know that if they bumped into that person through the course of the day someplace THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HIM/HER AS A FRIEND! Can you say that about yourself?
Get up every morning and find something to say thank you for and to praise and soon you will feel better and you will then KNOW why these people are always happy in their lives!

A lot of people, myself included are happy because we woke up this morning! There is food on the table. Although we may not have a lot of money, the bills are paid. I have clothes, although they may not be the most fashionable, and I have a roof over my head even though its just an apartment.
Look at the news, there is a lot of suffering and misery in this world. And for some reason, maybe just the luck of the draw, I was one of the people who didn't have to experience it.
I don't think I'm ignorant as much as I am GRATEFUL.

I'm happy to be alive to enjoy any good there is like nice seasonal weather,inexpensive yet delicious foods,inexpensive yet attractive clothes-this computer,my cat,to read a book/magazine and dream about better things.To set my hair or got to the ballet or rave over a rental movie-in other words,happy to enjoy the pleasures of this world if I can get them.I make the best of the situation-nothing more I can do.I can't make everything perfect.
