What the h*ll would you do if you were in a f*cking cage 24/7 with the ability to jump into your spinning wheel any time you want?! Its no wonder the f*cking hairball spins that d*mn wheel 8 hours a day and only at night! Its trying to trip in your shallow head for keeping locked-up in it's "home." Try leaving it's cage door open so it can come and go whenever it pleases. I bet you anything the f*cking thing will almost never sleep. Keeping in mind, you got the poor rodent living not only in it's bedroom, its also its dining room, playground and God d*mn piss and sh*t room also! You try those deplorable living conditions and then you go and "have a nice nap!"

Hamsters have an average lifespan of between 2 and 4 years of age. Imagine a year to us being like 30 to them. so at 3 yrs the hamster would be as old as a 90 year old person. As they age they will require more sleep. If your hamster is getting sluggish you should prepare yourself, he/she may not have too long left.

The life span of hamster is two to three years. Your hamster is the equivalent of an 80 year old human. Most of the problems you are noticing are age related changes. As hamsters age they sleep more and more, and become weaker and slower. Keep feeding him the same as always, and avoid stress, heat and running out of water. Don't force feed or syringe feed, for this may make him choke or have problems. Definately do not feed strange foods such as sour milk, for it may induce diarrhea. Keep his cage clean with fresh water and food always available. He will likely pass away in his sleep without pain or discomfort. If he appears to be in pain, crying and constantly fidgeting, your veterinarian may be able to help.

Well hamsters have short life spanes so they go through the aging process differently. If you have a siberian/golden hamster grab it out of that cage & play!
The other ones just kind of get old and mean. Especially the chinese and teddy's.

It could be because it is summer and the days are hotter. Like my cats lounge around and sleep all day to avoid being active in the heat, they wait until late when it is cooling off.

When they are older, they tend to get less active. Also, he might be bored. Does he have an exercise wheel and plenty of chew toys?
