The place where we lived when I was about 5 yrs.old. I'd freak out if I had to go to the basement. whenever I did I was sure that there was a shadow of a man on the wall opposite me. And for every step I took he would descend some 'shadow'stairs on his side of the room. It felt as if the further I went into the room he would eventually reach the floor and come across the room at me. If I retreated he always turned and went back up his stairs, this image has stuck with me all my life. I never forgot it.

Bears and Windows, equally.

I had repetitive dreams from the age of 3. The dream was a giant bear (bigger than our house) coming to take me away from my bedroom window.

As the years past, the bears became more realistic looking but I became more afraid. Most nights I just wouldn't sleep... I would stare at the ceiling or watch the fish.

Even still, when camping, I carry the thought around that I may run into a bear and I cannot sleep next to windows.

My own dreams. When I was younger I used to have these Freddy dreams from age 6 to 10 they were the scariest things and I would wake up in sweat and screaming and go sleep with my sister. Then the dreams stopped right around ten and a half and then I saw the movie when I was twelve and I thought I was going to vomit. It was the same guy who had been haunting my dreams for all that time on the big screen!!!

When I was about 8 I saw a movie called The Day After. From then on I was petrified of nuclear war. To this day I can't believe that my parents let me watch it. To a child so young something like that seems so very real and frightening.

Going to bed.We were poor and slept on mattresses that were placed directly on the floor.I was afraid of what could reach me at that level.I was bitten and gnawed on by a rat when I was asleep and woke up to blood all over me.I was only 8 and had nightmares for ever about it.Very true story and I still hate rats and I never sleep on the floor ever.

Water: I nearly drownd when I was about 4.

Black rubber skeletons: I asked my mom for one when she went to a store and I stayed in the car with my father. I asked because I assumed they would not have any black skeletons, and I wanted to prove I wasn't afraid of scarey things. She came out of the store with exactly what I asked for. It totally freaked me out.

Feet: I have no idea why. I have more of an adversion to them now but as a child they terrified me.

heights: Wouldn't climb a gym latter in grammar school as it terrified me, and this fear I still have.

fish: They terrified me then and still today. I cannot cook them, eat them, TOUCH THEM, I cannot even watch them in an aquarium. I cannot walk by them in the grocery either.

The very old massive solid iron furnace that lived in the basement of my parents home, it had huge ducts that looked like a giant octopus's tentacles and it would release pure black soot that was like a giant octopus releasing its ink when it broke down, but one day when I was about 10 years old, I challenged the hideous beast and defeated it by stabbing it several times with a homemade cardboard sword:)

The basement stairs. Our home was over 100 years old, so the basement smelled, the floor was uneven and the entire basement was unfinished. It was the creepiest place to me as a child.
