There is no dispute that this century is warmer than the five previous centuries, and the recent decades have been warmest of all.

The political debate is not whether this is occuring, but whether some or all of this temperature rise is caused by human activity.

If even part of the rise is due to human activity, then it makes sense to try to find ways to minimize our impact.

We can do many things without drastically changing our lifestyles, such as use energy-saving appliances, drive cleaner and more fuel efficient house, insulate our houses. Governments can encourage more development of renewable energy sources, industry can develop new products and improve processes that use less resources.

It is very real. See the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”. It is entertaining and shocking. It lays all the evidence out for you. You can judge for your self – not to mention witnessing Greenland, Antarctica, the Artic and all the world’s glaciers melting. The world’s scientists are in agreement: global warming is happening – only politicians and “popular” authors disagree.

On a personal note- I cannot believe the amount of scientific ignorance out there.

The nimrod above who claims that volcanoes are pumping out “clouroflourocarbon gas”:

First, get a spell checker. Second, no volcano in the history of the earth has ever emitted any chlorofluorocarbons. Those are completely synthetic chemicals that never appear in nature. Only man makes those. The ozone layer and global warning are not the same thing. These chemicals are mostly illegal now – which is why the ozone hole is starting to close.

Not to the point we are being fed by the media. The globe warms and cools a little all the time. This global warming crisis is a bunch of garbage that gives al gore and a bunch of washed up hippies the chance to sell the american people a crisis so they can "ration" the resources communist style. If they get the chance to do this rationing, the only people who will have anything are the people who agree with them. 20 years ago these same scientists were saying an ice age was comimg.

Yes Global warming is real, although the average Temperature has only gone up about 5 degrees in the last 50 years. This however does speed up the melting of the polar caps, but it won't affect us too much in our lifespan. Our grandkids are screwed however.

Not a major concern. It appears parts of antartica are now colder than before, and there's a cooling trend in Greenland. If there's a problem, it would take a while to manifest itself in our weather systems.

It is only to Al Gore and the headline grabbing so-called scinetists who cling to his coat-tails...and their lemmings. One volcano spews out more clouroflourocarbon gas than man has ever created in his entire existance...There are approx. 75 active volcanos at any given time along the "Ring of fire.

It is the consensus of the scientific community that it is a real threat. I would not disregard their research and informed views.
