I believe in helping the poor. I am poor but I still help as best as I can. I run karaoke twice a month on a regular. Over the summer I was lucky enough to get a bunch of private partys. I have a friend who is single with 3 kids. She has no job. I have hired her to work with me and I pay her. It's not much but it does give her a little spending money. I would do more for her if I could. Even if it is out of my way I always pick her up to ride with me so she doesn't have to use her gas.

I think the wealthy should donate money to the poor that is going to college. We poor people could go to school with out working and get the college thing done a lot faster. We can then get a good paying job and then it would be our turn to donate some money.

I quote the well known adage 'Give a man fish and he will eat for the day but teach him how to fish and he will eat fish all his life'. I believe that community action is needed to help people overcome poverty and so also government programmes BUT it is often possible for the 'poor' to help themselves by working hard, having a flexible and open mindset and honest in their dealings with the world and also to minimize the wasteful and bad habbits they may have ( I am not making presuppositions but habbits like alocoholism or gambling makes a man more poor). While this is an individual thing, the help of NGO's can be taken or SHG (self help groups) can be formed to help themselves. There is a proverb in Asia ' you can not help a man climbing the coconut tree beyond a point'.

I do not believe in helping the poor. I am a social darwinist and by helping the poor we are acting contrary to nature. the poor are the weak animals of nature. If the weak animals were not eaten by the stong ones then there would be an overcrowding in nature and the ecosystem would be compromised.

When we help the poor we are altering the laws of supply and demand...the natural economy. We should let them struggle and if they figure out a way to survive...good for them...if they don't...that's natural selection.

It's not only material things that we can help each other, but also immaterial things like spiritual, emotional, psychological.
An attitude of mind in helping, not just the acting part. The heart and the mind combination.

There is a funny news to share. A rich woman who is renowned for big donations in the society was one day sued by her maid for a long-time physical abuse.

I would teach a down on their luck person things they need to know to get a job or direct them to some agency who can help them.

I never give money directly to the poor, they may not spend it wisely.
