I 100% agree with that little statement of yours. Here we have two of the richest guys in the world who have gathered millions of pounds over the years for themselves. They could both easily fund that of a city in Africa for years to come and still have enough left over for life's luxury's.
Yet they have the NERVE, the CHEEK, to tell us, working class people, tax-payers to dig deep into our ever-shrinking pockets and GIVE GIVE GIVE.
Give me a break.
Hypocritical bastards.

I think you are slightly confused here. I did not see, at any point, Bono or Bob Geldof say that they were 'elected" and therefore represented the majority of the people.
What I did see was two men, set an agenda and through that agenda have millions give their support. This is very different, this is standing out, saying what you believe in, and people following you.
The two Band Aid events, the 'Do they know it's Christmas" single, the activity around making poverty a thing of the past, all of these and the way millions have supported them has, over the past 20-30 years, restored my faith in human nature. People can actually get a voice and that voice can swell to a shout, a shout started by a few people, like Bono and Bob.
Reading your question then I suspect that those "two tossers" may well not want you on their team, not as long as you do not recognize the main point; that being, it hardly matters who is talking out against these wrongs and helping the third world, what matters is that they are talking out about it.
I would suggest there is little room in such a altruistic environment for a narrow, petty-minded bigot such as yourself. So feel safe, you won't be asked to join soon and can continue to bask in your ignorance and inactivity whilst people die and starve; all because you missed the point on what was important.
Why don't you just think for a minute, think about the starving, the poor, and then, along side that, what does your opinion of two guys trying to do something right, matter: not one iota.

I disagree with your "we all want to end world poverty" comment. The truth is, millions of people in the world could care less about poverty. All they care about is their own wealth. I'm thankful there are people like Bono and Bob Geldorf in the world. Someone needs to step up!

I agree with you; people like Bono and Bob Geldof don't speak for me.
Their solution - throwing money at Africa's problems - has not worked in the past 50 or so years, and will never work.
Africans have enough brains and ability to solve their own problems. The best thing we in the West can do is help them undermine their corrupt-to-the-bone governments.
