Why not use the proper chemicals? Would you put baby oil in your car engine?

I've never done it, but my ex-husband used to be a pool man and I know that you can not put it in the pool in place of chlorine. If you drain the pool and use it to clean the pool, and rinse it well before you refill the pool, I don't think it would hurt.

yes i did it once when no store was open to get the proper shock treatment, it is a waste of time because it will clear the water but for only a day or so. buy the right chemicals and you should be set for a good bit of the season.

Clorox is actually chlorine (a form of) but it is not so good for human skin. Better off to use chlorine shock treatment.

i recommend using shock. it comes in a bag and you sprinkle the powder all around your pool. it's crystal clear (and not slimy) in a few hours. you can get it at anywhere pool supplies are sold. it's like 2.50-3.50 per bag.
