Am I the only one who prefers to think for myself, rather than have some political party platform tell me what I SHOULD think?
Isn't it just possible that both liberals and conservatives have some things right and some things wrong?

Actually I find it quite refreshing that more and more Americans are waking up and thinking for themselves.A lot of it has to do with the outrageously brazen tactics that Bush and the other Nazis at the White house are trying to pull off.You see they had counted on the "follow your President blindly "attitude of the past but they have made so many mistakes that we are all catching on to what they are trying to accomplish.Doesn't matter which party they belong to, there are a large group of evil people in the US who want to dominate the world for oil and profit.

Yes, I am a moderate and cannot find a representative local or national to represent my views. Come to the center!

In a hard-core red state, it is impossible to find a moderate leader. Anyone resembling a moderate is labelled a bad Republican.

It is very uncomfortable to watch otherwise upstanding people tow the party line when it is obviously something they don't necessarily believe.

I prefer to think that good ideas should be debated on their merits as responsible public policy. Falling in the center between left and right is not "fence sitting" or "bending to current political winds." I describe it as not voting straight ticket for the entirety of any political agenda (right or left) that I do not agree with. A pol that shows independence of mind usually gets miligned by their party, but gets a tremendous amount of respect from me.

I hope to God that you are not alone! The political catfighting in the USA is delivering weak leaders, and in the trying times we are living in, that's the last thing we need. Of course both liberals and conservatives have some things right (and wrong) but the polarisation is so strong that they will NEVER sit down together to find a solution, and solutions are what the world needs. The only superpower in the world is lead by opportunists. God help mankind.

No and yes.

For example right now I will vote only for democrats until we get rid of the one party rule in this country. If it were reversed, I would vote only for republicans.

I am a liberal and I believe that we have the right to own guns and I favor concealed carry with proper licensing.

Even on the Fox channel you have entertainers who will criticize the administration on occasion.

We all think for ourselves, we just don't all talk about it.

Absolutly not. Most people think in line with you, unfortunatly they're not the ones voting. If you take a hard look at your stand on most issues you'll probably find that they're MOSTLY in line with one party or another, it just works that way. Nonpartisan is the way to go but bipartisan is not a bad word either. At least we have SOME choice, even if it's not always a good one.

No, you're part of the slowly growing multitude which is even more slowly becoming aware that our two parties have outlived their usefulness and have become self-serving. Rather than forming a new third party, which would likely pattern itself after the two that we already have, they offer a "new" concept: Independence!

You're right. It makes sense to look for the good in the present scheme rather than throwing everything away and trying to reinvent the wheel. Hurray for you!

I would say your an Independent, a moderate waits for the popular opinion then aligns himself with it so that he will appear to the other moderates to be enlightened and open minded when what he really is is gutless. Stand up for what you believe even if your the only one saying it.

You are not part of endangered species, lol. The world is changing - again ! - we were used to the individualistic view of life before but now people do prefer to be told what to think ! But by all means please continue thinking on your own but don't forget to share...

Your not alone, you are in the majority. It is the right and left wing nuts that want us to think otherwise. If we were able to get rid of both ends of the spectrum it would be a pretty nice place to live.

That does not necessarily make you a moderate. That could also make you a radical. It depends what guides your views and what they are if you feel alienated from the political process, as many people do.
