Honestly, It makes no difference what coach do you pick. I am Portuguese and I happen to love the enthusiasm English fans put in these competitions. I was in the Algarve, during the group stage, and I found myself cheering for England in a pub amongst English suporters on more than one ocasion. But you have a serious problem dealing with defeat: you always blame someone else.
If Portugal had lost the quarter-final game after one of our players steped on someone's private parts and three others missed penalties, we would be upset with those players, not the oposite side. But England never recognizes it's own flaws: it's always someone else's blame. And do you want to know what happens when you do that? You don't learn, so you keep doing the same mistakes over and over again...
Yes, some Portuguese players "fell" without reason and, yes, some Portuguese players were fouled (including in the box) and the ref waved play on because of the prejudice you guys helped create. Can you honestly say that if that so called Henry penalty kick happened on the oposite area the ref would have called it? I don't think so.
In the end, Portugal made less fouls than most teams but got more bookings than anyone else. We we're robbed out of two clear penalties and got a strange one called against us. Rooney's dismissal unfair? How about Deco's, against Holland? All he did was pick the ball for a second to place it on the right spot for a foul.
We reached the semis because we fought hard an till the end on every match. We didn't go further because we still have flaws. We will improve them and we will be better next time. How about England: are you going to improve or will you just pick another enemy after they eliminate you?
Love football, don't hate because of it...

I agree but I don't think you can blame the manager 100 per cent for the fact that some (ok most) of his team are cheating gits, or the fact that the ref between England and Portugal was so supremly biased. At least we have the convicton to play clean and lose than to cheat and win. Thats why our team is better in the long run. I am just glad Sven is finally gone. Maybe we can win something now!!!

Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari led Brazil to their 2002 World Cup triumph and took Portugal to the final of Euro 2004, knocking out England on both occasions.

Yes, but think of it this way:
Where does sportsmanship get you? Players across the world dive and roll, and are awarded penalties (Take the example of the Italy penalty v Australia, and now the Italians are in the Final!)
FIFA always talk about "being 'tough' on diving", but in the end, it gets honest teams nowhere.
So, Scolari may have a point at being a 'cheating tosser'. At least it got him and portugal to fourth in the world.

I could sum it up in one word = YES
I agree with what you said, I would rather play fair to win or lose than start doing anything fair or foul to try to win. I am pleased that the England boys on the whole play a very good fair game (I am sure that some one somewhere will want to dispute that) and I think we can be proud of them even if they do lose, because they do not employ some of the cheating tatics that other teams are using to win.
I didn't see his mouthing at the ref at the end of the game that knocked them out of playing in the final, but people who I know that did see it were disgusted. Its not a good example to set for players, I think they are encouraged in such unsporting behaviour and I am glad we haven't got him because I would embarrassed if England started playing like that.

Scolari brought huge changes to the Portugese team...If it weren't for him, Portugal might have not reached this far in the World Cup...Doesn't seem to me he's a cheat...He's every bit concerened about his team, and Portugal are anything BUT argumentative with the referee, and they don't dive THAT much...Puleez, those traits u mentioned about the Portugal team should be directed to other countries, if they aren't any worse too...

Say what you need to say to make you feel better, he's one of the best couch's in the world and he going to coach Portugal again in the next Euro and World...
As for Ronaldo, he's wanting out on England, looks like it will hurt ManU more than him since now he will be making more money and play in a place where he actuaclly gets respect, kinda sad when players don't wanna play in a league because of their hot headed fans....
