Going shopping for gifts for family and friends. Picking out those special gifts just to see the expression on their faces. Wrapping them up and curling the ribbons really nice.
My mom's food
Making snowmen
Going for walks in the snow with my boyfriend
Seeing family on Christmas
Reading the story of the Birth of Christ. ( even if at the time I didn't appreciate it)

Christmas is such a wonderful time. All of my traditions for Christmas are so much of what makes Christmas special to me that I wouldn't want to give up any of them. Putting up the tree, cooking, listening to Christmas music, watching my son and others open up their presents, and a ton more.

Reading "Mary's First Christmas". Beautiful book, with fantastic art work. I DID actually give it up for a while, as the girls turned into teenagers and didn't need Mommy to read for them anymore(I have missed it terribly).
The cutest thing happened the other day, my older daughter (the Mama to my grandson), came across the book and said "We NEED to start our tradition back up now that Zach is here"! I can't wait, what a special time it used to be, now we can add Zach to that tradition!

Baking. making candy. for home and as gifts. It's great knowing your friends and family all have certain ones they look forward to receiving each year, and the house smells wonderful from the spices and chocolates used. Also watching my husband and son bypass the gifts around the tree, and grab the Christmas Stockings first on Christmas Morning, knowing that Santa will have left some very cool little things in them.

Fighting to get the tree in the house and figuring out the baffling tangle of lights, egg nog and heavy rum. Perhaps thats why the lights are so confusing?! Family, friends, and doing for others.
**** The one thing I could give up, the phrase "Have a nice HOLIDAY" Its Merry Christmas and since too many people have become overly PC, I heard this being uttered at a liquor store on July 4th..... Its not about religion, its about being with loved ones and for at least one day of the year truly extending goodwill.

I will decorate an artificial Christmas tree. I just unbox it every year and put the decorations on it. My favorite thing is to select tastefully toned Christmas cards, use my list and send them out about two weeks before the holiday. I don't care if anyone forgets to send me a card. It isn't about how many people remember me. The sending of cards is an annual tradition. This I enjoy immensely. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31.

Oh that's an easy one I will never want to give up singing Christmas carols decorating the Christmas tree and the presents (nobodies to old for presents). And just spending time with my family.

Every Christmas Eve we go to evening service at church. Before we go my mom sneaks up to my brothers and my rooms and leaves a brand new pair of pajama's. She never admits it is her and it is so cute. Plus I absolutely love pajamas now. Unfortunately the tradition is ending because I am well into my 20's now. But it is a tradition I plan on continuing.

I would never want to give up reading Christmas stories with my kids by the Christmas tree with the lights twinkling. It's a very special time.

Every member of our family (27 of us total) have a special ornament with their name and birth year upon it. When we go to my mothers home for dinner on Thanksgiving, after dinner, the tree goes up and everyone scrambles to find their special ornament. Each person has to stand, say something about what they found most wonderful about the year and follow with what they would like for Christmas. Usually my oldest sister writes down what that person wanted. After the last one has had their say...we draw names to see who we're getting a gift for and we know exactly what they want due to the list. It's fun to listen to some of the stories. The new additions to the family are given their new ornament (of course the babies parents place theirs on the tree). That tree is full of special trinkets and old ornaments and the memories...oh the memories of all the Christmas' we've done this. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'd say the Christmas meal. It brings us all together, even if we don't exchange presents. Preparing the special foods is a time of sharing and companionship with the Christmas music playing.
When I was living in Australia for a few years, we went to a lot of trouble finding cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie ingredients.
