Worst answer

"because they go and live and fight and sleep all over the world. "

That is the answer of someone who appears to justify rape. Perhaps he is a rapist himself?

You seem to be a little narrow in your information and perspective. If you want to find out about rapes, look up rapes committed by the Red Army troops as they moved in to Naxi Germany near the end of World War 2. The few examples that you cite would pale besides the hundreds of thousands of rapes committed then. Commanders let their men run amok because they deserved a good time and the German women got what it was felt they deserved. Many women were held down and raped so many times they even died from the abuse. Also look up the mass raping of Chinese women by Japanese soldiers in Nanking in 1937 if you want to know what wholesale raping of the civilian population is.

A few GI rapes here and there are nothing, relatively speaking, and probably are lower than the incidence of rape in the civilian population as a whole. To pick out a handful of solitary events and to hold them up in an AHA! Micheal Moore celebration as if to prove some great string of deliberate atrocities is selective misinformation to prove a false point.

And why if you research, has every army in the history of the world been guilty of rape? Army's are filled with people trained to be very aggressive, and who are usually far away from normal life situations. Rape is a act of violence, and anger. But it is not a crime that is supported by the USA, it is considered digusting, horrible, and one of the worst crimes imaginable.

Justice should be applied to the individuals committing the crimes, and not a condemnation of a country.

If an individual rapes someone, then they should be held accountable, and punished SEVERELY.

And yes, Justice should be done!

Rape is wrong no matter who does it or where they do it. If a soldier does it he should be punished. Whether he's an American soldier or from some other country. Sadly, warriors throughout history have raped women in the countries they've invaded, are supposed to be protecting, etc. Not just Americans. Rape is not a uniquely American crime. You will find rapists in every country in the world. And some of them end up in the military.

Because they are trained to think they are better than everone else - have you ever spent time with anyone who has served duty overseas?? they are brainwashed in training to beleive they are better than anyone - of course this is so they wont feel bad about killing innocent people since they are brainwashed to think these people are inferior.. as a result they have pent up confused feelings and rape is probably the biggest release for them...
I personally have disliked the arogaunt attitude of most Americans but particularly those who have been in the military are very very much the worst of the bunch...

Why stop with "American GI's?"

Maybe you should pull the prejudice from your point of view and understand that rape is a very human condition that pervades any group. So, in other words, you'd do just as well to ask why humans rape, unless you sincerely feel that "American GI's" are the only ones to perform such an act.

You poorly disguised a political statement as a question. And then answered it yourself, thereby revealing your inherent bias.

Look at yourself in the mirror. That is why man does evil things to man.

Your assumption is that rape didn't exist in those countries until the "evil" american GIs showed up and brought it with them. Not a very valid assumption, is it?

And yes, it is a tragedy that things like what you allege to have occurred do occur. But you are trying to create political points and advance your hidden agenda based on a bogus assumption.

Nice try. But you aren't dealing with illiterate hillbillies.

ALL soldiers in ALL armies rape. Rape, and infanticide, and fratricide, have been a part of armed conflict since human history began. To single out AMERICAN soldiers is both naive and incredibly ignorant. Rather than worrying about why one country's soldiers commit rape, it would be far more useful to look into why warfare and strife exist in the first place. Otherwise, you are blatantly trying to spread a one-sided propaganda viewpoint.

EVERY ARMY at war from the beginning of the human race have raped the women (and children) of their enemies. Rape is not a sexual act. It is an act of VIOLENCE.
It is an extension of the violence of war. Rape is used to destroy the "enemy" mentally, emotional...and physically (especially the way women/children are raped by the local militants in the Congo...they use sharp weapons to "finish" after multi-soldiers raping a woman for days.)
Unfortunately, we want to believe our soldiers are highminded and above such a heinous act, but SOME are not.
For all those soldiers who are actually punished, most have escaped punishment to return from wars (in Vietnam, Korea, Japan, etc.) and live freely among us. And it's always easier to behave "like vicious animals" in poor countries where the peasants already feel powerless and lack the power of the English language.
(Not to mention American soldiers having to fight unjust wars in Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. Democracy cannot be exported!)
The world wants to believe that all Americans are arrogant, but they should educate themselves about what is happening in Africa. Far worse things occur there, and will continue long after we leave Iraq...because no one cares about Africans, except for AMERICANS (Angelia Jolie, Bill Clinton, Bill & Melinda Gates) and Irishman Bono.

Because they can.

They got the guns and our victims (the country's we attack and occupy) got the women, we kill off many of them men (or toss them into a prison somewhere). Looks like a recipe for a good ole-fashioned, American, country-style rapin'.

We're a nation of bullies. We teach our kids to think that way and our media resources reinforce this type of behavior.

TV programs, our elected officials and violent wartime movies breed rapists and teach our kids to strong-arm the weaker people.

Lately even many of our churches have become breeding grounds for teaching children that aggressive behavior is ok, if your doing it for Jesus.

It's getting ugly out here.

Your question implies that rape committed by American GIs is condoned and even encouraged. It is too bad that the inexcusable acts of a few rotten individuals has made you think that all American GIs are rotten. And you probably think that all Americans are rotten too. Your logic is not valid.
