Last night my car was running fine. Stopped at BP and got gas was running fine down the interstate. Got to my exit ramp, then it started sputten' the died. It would act as if it was going to start but never did. We put gas treatment in it. And it would start and run but when you would go to take off it died. called a tow, towed it home and it starts and goes now.
I am thinking that with the tow it could of mixed that treatment in there with the gas.
Could that be the case? Really not sure on vechiles and don;t want to take to shop if that is all it was.

Sounds like your fuel pump might be going bad... I wouldn't overlook this. How long ago have you changed your fuel filter? This should be done ever 30K miles on most vehichles. If the filter gets clogged up pretty bad then might be hard for fuel to pass through (kind of like a clogged up artery causing heart attacks). A clogged filter puts strain on the fuel pump which causes it to fail prematurely, resulting in a big repair bill. Definitely get it checked out by a shop

Why not go to that gas station and buy some gas for your lawnmower at the same pump, do it asap before they get a new delivery. Buy a gallon, when you get home empty entire contents into a clear container. Water will settle to the bottom.
Any water that got into your tank will have also settled at the bottom and will be the 1st to enter the pickup line in the gas tank. Of course dirt or any other solid crap in the gas will plug the fuel filter. http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/1994/December/04.html

Generally a bad tank of gas has to be drained. But if as you say it seems OK now after adding the treatment you can try it but I would not venture far from home and have a cell phone with you.It would of course be dependent on just how bad the fuel was contaminated if indeed that is what caused your car to die but it certainly seems likely as it happened so soon after you filled up at BP.Good luck.

Talk to a mechanic about your concerns. Mechanic's will give you free advice, although they will try to convince you to let them examine your car. Talk to more than one mechanic from a variety of businesses in your area.

Explain the situation to them as you did here. Take notes of the information they share with you. Find the common answer between several of them, also find out estimates from each one.
Ask each one is it something you can do yourself - When you are making those calls, do it with a speakerphone, and have a male friend of yours to explain the situation on your behalf.

Not trying to seem like I'm sexest or anything, however, depending on the honesty of the mechanic, they are more likely to tell another man, exactly what to do than women. Not saying all mechanics are this way, but some are and will only attempt to lure women into their shop and then cause other damage to your car that you are trying to avoid here.

Although it maybe something minor and inexpensive to take care of yourself, if you aren't really car savvy, then it will be in your best interest to allow a mechanic to do it for you.

Make sure to take good notes, who you spoke to and any parts they say you may have to purchase, etc...

Also, you can also visit places like Auto Zone, or Advanced Auto Parts and ask them, they can give you free advice as well.

Hope it helps.

Sure. Change the fuel filter. It is common that if water gets mixed in with the filler at the station after a hard rain.

Yes, this could be the case but I think you should replace the fuel filter also. Put Heat into the tank. If it's a vinyl tank, it could be condensation that caused your problem. Good luck.

Sure it could have been bad gas. A little water or dirt that made it pass the filter.
