I have felt deep connections with people I have not physically (or visually) met. These people were "met" online and on the telephone.

I agree with "Ol_School's" comments. I was chatting online and talking on the telephone with a girl for quite some time. Believe it or not, we felt as though we were in love..but you don't truly know someone until you've established some sort of relationship in the physical presence. You really do need to see their facial expressions, and know where they are truthfully. It's so easy to tell lies online or over the telephone.
She tried to break up with me end of March, then things were ok..things went along just fine, or so I thought until I became suspicious. Her cellphone was turned off half the time when she was away or she said she had bad connection; yet she was able to receive and make calls to her son. To make a long story short, I finally broke it off with her at the end of June. I later found out through a reliable source, that she had moved in with another guy before the 1st week in Sept. Soo...you see, you truly don't know anyone online or over the telephone. You really must be physically together.
Online and telephone relationships can feel so very real; but truly they're not. Be careful...you could wind up hurt.

I sometimes feel a connection with a character in a book or even a place described in a book. I can also feel a conection with a character played by an actor.
Or did you mean someone I had not met before that moment?

Of course.
Most of the "connections", transitory or enduring, we human beings have with others in any given day are those with people we have never met.
Musicians through recordings. Authors through books. Actors through films. Painters through art. Writers through newspapers/websites. Internet contributors through postings and correspondence. Online dialogues. Conversations on the telephone with those other than our family and friends.
It has always been this way.
Human beings crave connection. We are a very curious species. And, in most cases, it is our natural state of being to be open to and welcome the sharing of experiences and ideas and commonalities -as well as the opportunity to be informed about those things otherwise unfamiliar to us- whenever we can.

We human beings are genetically required to connect.
We spend most of our waking hours enjoying and maintaining existing connections and desiring and discovering new ones.
Intellectually. Emotionally. Spiritually. Physically.
And, hopefully, always Lovingly.
It all beings with communication.
And it makes no difference whether that first communication is face-to-face or keyboard-to-keyboard.

Yes I have and my best friend, he lives in australia and I'm american. We've been online friends for 5 years and still haven't met but we do plan to one day when our funds are able to allow us to meet. We both know it cost alot to spend and such, he's coming here next year so hopefully i am established to meet him.

When i first met him the connection was so strong that he felt it as well but over the years its fades little by little because we know that it would be too hard for both of us in the situation we are so we decided to remain friends for life, maybe in the next life time he'll be mine lol.

I know it can be hard to explain but in the case of the Australian Aborigines they can communicate with each other over hundreds of miles using what we know as mental telepathy. We know that it works for them but we are unable to explain it. I further understand that they can communicate also with people they have never met. This could be a factor in connecting with people we don't know. Hope this helps!
