Please - recommend the very best eyeliner and mascara that will stay put for sensitive eyes/contact lens wear. I have spent a fortune over the last 5 years trying one after the other without success. Many thanks

As a 30+ year veteran of wearing eyeliner one thing I can tell you for certain...whether you wear contact lenses or not...a pencil eyeliner will not stay put. They are all grease based which make them glide on in the first place. Your body heat melts them and they smear easily.

I have always used and swear by a dry cake eyeliner that you put on with a paint brush type brush and add water. When it dries, it stays put. I have tried even the newer pencils and gels and they are all crap. I use Clinique cake mascara. Comes with a brush and comes in black, brown and navy. Lasts forever.

I prefer one type of mascara...which works for me and never rubs or smudges off. It is Cover Girl Super Thick Lash in the red tube. Works great. Have been using it for years.

I'm a makeup artist and this is a common question. Unfortunately, everyone's sensitivity tolerence is different and it really depends on the individual. That being said, I would highly suggest that you purchase your cosmetic items from a store that offers a 100% refund (just be sure to keep your receipt). A few stores that offer this guarantee are: CVS, Ulta, Avon, Sephora, GardenBotanika.com and I believe - though not certain - Eckerd and Rite Aid. Garden Botanika's products are usually pretty good because the ingredients are free of all petrochemicals and animal based ingredients. Plus they cater to sensitive skin.
As for me, I would highly recommend Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara. I have been using this brand for 12+ years and have yet to come across another that even comes close to the coverage and wearability. I would also agree with the previous posting of using a cake eyeliner. All this means is that you get a thin angled eyeliner brush (Maybelline sells one for about $5). Then you wet the brush, dab off excess water, press into any eyeshadow and Voila! you have eyeliner! If you're looking for an eyeliner that is also waterproof, Maybelline has a decent one or I highly recommend Stila Smudge Pot. With the Stila Pot, take the dry angled brush and dip right into the pot. This item is highly pigmented, has supeior wear and does seem to be waterproof (I wore it to a wedding!). Plus, if you want to, this item can give you the "smoky look" in no time flat. It is extremely easy to use and I just love it!

I wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes, and i find that Revlon eyeliner is really good and a mascara from No.7 it's in a blue tube and is waterproof and is specially for sensitive eyes. Also if you want your eye make-up to stay on your eyes and not underneath them then No.7 do a matt base i think it is called shine free, it's actually for greasy skin before you put on your foundation but i use the smallest amount on my eye lids and rather than my eyeshadow ending up in the creases by lunch time it stays exactly where i put it in the morning and lasts all day. I also dab a bit under my eyes so that my bottom eyeliner stays where it should be.

Hi,
I wear contact lenses too and had lots of problems making even so called water proofs stay put. I now stick to lancome for both mascara and eyeliner as they are the only things that saty put. They are also great for sensitive eyes. The mascara is quite expensive but you don't need to use as much as with other mascaras and it lasts longer. As for the eyeliner, it comes in all the colours that you need and is 3 times longer than any other eyeliner that I've ever used so even though it's expensive, it lasts longer and is well worth the money.
Tip, put your eyeliner and you mascara on roughly 30 minutes + after putting your lenses in as when you first put them in your eyes water and if you put your make-up on straight after it won't stay put! Hope this helps!

I have very sensitive eyes too. I have done a lot of research in both of these items as well. To me, MAC's waterproof eyeliner and Loreal Voluminous mascara are the best. I have not had any problem with them. Also, bear in mind that what you remove your eyeliner and mascara with, is also very important. For years now, I have been using Johnson & Johnson's Baby Oil and my eye sensitivity has deminished substantially.

a million- Eyeliner & Mascara- even if i love eyeshadow, eyeliner fairly transforms your seem without delay! Eyeliner can make your eyes seem larger and brighter and ought to even provide the phantasm of adjusting your eye structure. Eyeliner lets your eyes stand out a lot extra vs. eyeshadow. the in ordinary words element is it ought to correctly be diffucult getting executed the paintings of eyeliner and the position you should placed it (higher lash line, bottom lash line, waterline) yet once you study it really is proper ! also eyeliner can make your seem extra dramatic and edgy or perhaps extra polished and practice. #2- I truly trust you: Mascara! It delivers definition, frames your eyes in a way eyeliner can not. It looks a lot extra organic, and that i'd really have finished and lengthy lashes really than lining my eyes. only a makeup lover's opinion ! (:

Try Almay. It's hypoallergenic and made especially for people w/ sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

If you like liquid liner, try the "Almay Liquid Liner" black. It's amazing and one of the fastest sellers. If you want a pencil liner, try Almay Intense i-Color liners (choose your shade by eye color).

For mascara, both Almay One Coat and Almay Intense i-Color mascaras are excellent. Choose based on the mascara benefit you are looking for. (e.g. There is One Coast lengthening (for longer lashes), One Coat thickening (for thicker lashes), and One Coat Triple Effect (for longer, thicker and curvier lashes).

Also, you should use Almay eye makeup removers - oil free (the purple container), if you use contact lenses. I recommend the pads which are ready to use. They're the best in the marketplace (market leader).

By the way, Clinique is excellent, too, but a bit more expensive.

I know the feeling. When it comes to mascara DIORSHOW mascara made by Christian Dior is totally awesome! It will stay on for a lonnnnnng time and gives you great looking eyelashes no matter what length yours are. When it comes to eyeliner Mac makes the best, even if you sleep in it its still perfect when you wake up. Also, Max Factor makes a new one that is cheaper and almost as good as good as the Mac.

Rimmel is the only liquid eyeliner I've ever used that stays put. Even if I accidently fall asleep with it on, it looks perfect in the morning. Any mascara works good for me except these new "mousse" mascaras that are coming out, they make my eyelashes clump together so bad.

Hiya,

The very best is Clarins for sensitive eyes. It is more expensive that say, Max Factor, but has the ultimate in staying power and does not affect you eyes sensitivity.

Go in to Beales or Debenhams and ask for a trial, they will be only too happy to help. Let them apply it for you, then leave the shop and say you will be back in 24 hours if it works. That way, you don't have to spend any money and you are not committed to buy unless it works!
