How does it rank with other programs? If I decide to get it, is it safe to buy it on the net and download it or should I buy it at a store and install it myself?

It's very effective. But, it's only one line in your defense. You should also have an anti-spyware program such as: ewido (which is free) and an anti-virus program. You can get anti-virus progams for free but the best ones are for pay. Go to PC Hell in the link below and learn more...

Its effective and there should be antivirus program also. n now i'm using Zone Alarm and its features are
Anti spyware
Firewall
Antivirus monitoring
Email Protection

It's one of the best over all. But do yourself a favor, turn off the automatic "hacker" warnings. It's doing its job and trying to track down every single alert is fruitless. Most of the alerts are normally "background chatter" and of no concern.
