Because they suddenly realize it's not true love. Look, usually celebs just go with each other for their image. Plus, a guy celeb may see a hot-looking famous girl, but she only SEEMS hot because of the makeup. In other words, the male celebrity may fall in love with her image, but once he gets to see her without all the makeup caked on her face and see who she truly is, that's when the storm hits! And, of course, there's the money that comes into view. "Gee, I should go with her she has all of that money!" Basic idea of what the guy may have thinking of the girl, also. Why do you think it's terrible for celebrities to have anything to do with marriage? They never know if it's true love! That's why I always think I'll get married first and THEN get famous! A bit smarter, dont'cha think???

i think execptions prove the rule! bruce willis and demi moore, in india, shahrukh khan and gauri, no. of years of married life, with more than one kid and all. willis and moore are split, but sk. and gauri are still together?
the reasons are varied, prominent one being clash of personalities, less time for personal lfe, inability of the partner to hold the interest, addictions, etc. trial and error goes on, but even in ordinery people's lives, for that matter. only thing is celeb's get page 3 coverage, and we don't! we also don't get divorced and married so many times, may be once, or twice, at the most. celebs seem to be in an unending search for marital bliss, which evades them lke mercury! why nicole kidman has to marry again? and all that mixing and matching with tom cruise, anjelina jolie, penelope cruze, and some more sexy and handsome actors? we in india get really confused, who is who, and with whom? why should we bother so much actually? let them be. all publicity gimmicks perhaps, they can afford. like marilyn monroe, they are a hellua unhappy lot! i am sorry fo them actually.

Because they are dumb and are only into marrige for publicity reasons.. they marry and get the attention but they don't even like each other... then when thier latest movies comes out that you go see and make them more rich... they no longer have a reason to be married and they have what they want... but they will never be happy... ask J-Lo if this answer doesn't suffice...

it gets publicity, or they think they have to cuz they're celebs or maybe they arent satisfied wit each other or maybe theyre drunk or...why do celebs do anything?

Probably they don't break up any sooner or more than the population at large - we just hear (and hear and hear) about it. Sells magazines.
