My child is 11 so I may not be up on the latest, but this info seemed pretty solid. Even a decade ago many doctors agreed baby powders could lead to respiratory problems even in healthy babies, and serious problems in babies who already had respiratory problems! The tiny particles are breathed into the lungs by the baby.

that is the podwer warding right now. my mom used baby powder on both myself and my sister, I used it on my cousin the whole time she was in diapers, my son in 20 months old and I have used it on him the whole time and it hasn't hurt him at all.
If you are concerned about the powder getting airborn gerber has a roll on powder out now, it costs a little more because of conveinience and it is no bigger than travel size so it doesn't last as long, but because you are using less and losing less you don't actually go through it as fast as you would think. I love it, I think it is great for the diaper bag. Ever since my aunt bought it the first time for part of a shower gift, I have been buying it regularly as I need it. Also nice for use on adults as it isn't as messy as using your hand to apply a pile of loose powder.

The particles are small enough to cause lung damage. Use cornstarch and avoid talc. Avoid perfumes or additives. Do not puff it out near the baby. Get it into your hand and spread it where you need it without allowing it to become airborne near the face.

my doctor recommended that I not use baby powder for two reasons...
1. Baby powder causes yeast infections in baby girls(use corn startch)
2 The powder is so fine it is easily inhaled and can cause respiratory problems.
If you still want to powder them use corn startch instead and be carful to puff it out into your hand and not around their faces.

Ive heard you cant use alot to the point it become airborn. It not good for them to inhale it. On thier bodies, its fine..I was just always careful not to puff it out so it was in the air.

they say not to use baby powder on a baby in the diaper area because of risk on infection... i did not use it in the diaper area on my daughter but used it for my boys... i put it under there necks and underarms especially during the summer because it helped with moisture.... it smells good too!!!

I don't use it because they can inhale it and cause them immediate and long term breathing problems. That is what I have been told.

i heard that talc is dangerous because it can be easily inhaled -- apparently cornstarch is a good alternative
