Hell no, women have come a long way since the 40's and 50's.....
I consider my husband an equal, we don't boss each other around, there has to be respect in a marriage, and it helps if the man wasn't raised by parents that had that type of situation! He makes slightly more money that I, but we have a nice comfortable life, because I also work....If I didn't work, neither of us would have new cars, and we wouldn't be able to buy the things we want, so we are equal....If I quit my job to stay at home cooking, cleaning and rearing the young, we wouldn't have the things that we have grown to appreciate....And yes, my children are growing just fine, I work 3 12 hour shifts a week, on the weekends, so I am home with them all week, and then my husband is home with them when I am at work, we have worked it out so that we don't need daycare.....your husband has to be willing to share the household responsibilities, you know not act like an ***!

Yes! I want my husband to be the authority figure of our household.
That is the role God gave the man.. to lead the woman and be the head over the wife.
When the roles are reversed or shared is when problems arise.
I wonder how many who have replied with objections are in successful/happy longterm marriages? My guess..not that many. (shacking up doesnt count!)

Best wishes!

I don't want either one of us to be boss,it should be as equal & fair as you can get, when i think of who is head of household I think of one head being as one fair, comprimising, respectful unit. Now as bread winner, men in general make the most money, but that doesn't mean he can rule the house,he may make more, but does he do more(around the house) if not, then he's not the biggest contributor.

Your husband shpould be the head of the household because:
1.He is a man
2.God intended man to be the head that is why adam was made first

Ridiculous concept.
My value as a human being is equal to that of any other man or woman. What would be the purpose of subordinating myself to another human being?

Yes.
Because I will be taking care of my children.
He's not my boss though, as we are equals.
In Christian faith, He is the head of the household like God was head of Jesus. God is EQUAL to Jesus. They just have different roles. The verse is in Eph. 5.22-24. ( I'm not getting preachy, I'm just explaining where I'm coming from)

Hell no! he should be my husband and best friend who you can go to and lean on for support but not act like an employer and I am his maid. Thats how my husband thinks though one of the many reasons we aren't together anymore.

it would make a nice change, I'm a little tired of being the brains of my marriage, I'm the one that takes charge of practically everything, I'm the grafter, the thinker, the organizer, in effect I'm what you might say the bloke of the relationship on almost every aspect, i want to be looked after, protected, i want my husband to take charge. x
