you get 2 points for an answer and loose 10 to ask a question. how did i get 449? how did it happen? did someone sneak in and steal 1 point from me or 11 or 21 etc.? i feel violated!

You lose 5 to ask a question. Hence the odd numbers.

don't forget whenever you sign in you get 1 point for visiting, whenever you vote you get 1 point.
And also, asking a question costs 5 points.
Thus, it is possible to obtain 449 points :)

Check the point board to see what other actions are worth, you may have earned a single point for something, or a five point item at some point in time.

There are no point theifs, unless you count me steeling two right now.

Dude you lose 5 points for an answer.And noone is even interested in stealing your points.Maybe someone you know knows your ID and password and is asking questions at your expense.
