Say you have invented a new nanobot technology which, when injected, would cure any ailment. These tiny self replicating miniature robots would then start working on the rest of the body rejuvenating all systems. It is very possible for the recipient to live as many as 300 or more years. If the recipient is shot, stabbed, etc., these nanobots are so quick to fix the damage that there is no threat to life or limb.

What would you do?

Mass market and become a gajillionaire? Of course you just put an entire industry out of work. No need for doctors anymore, you just get a single injection when you are born and you are all set. Heck, if your mother had the injection, you may just inherit the nanobots.

Market to the very wealthy? $1 million per injection. That would just keep the creeps like rich politicians around and leave the rest to die naturally.

Keep it a secret for just close family members? How do you explain the use of your social security number for several hundred years? Hmmm.

I would apply it to myself and peoplel who I care about and then destroy it... since there are people right this moment that pop into my mind that I don't even feel should be living now (Wellie scum, pediphiles, duggies)... forget allowing those morons to live forever, it just wouldn't be fair to the normal people...

Enigma, I would choose to keep it secret - this disk will self destroy in 5 seconds, kind of solution. Can you imagine just listening to the news for 300 years! Even your brilliant nanobots could not help me with that. However, we all have a price, and if it were for a loved one, well, I just might change my mind,
Enigma, I think you´ve got something here, seriously -- write a book about your nanobots. Star with a single plot, keep on going and see where it gets you? Another Harry? Go for it, go for it, go for it! And remember my advise when you're up there counting your millions. Would you thank me at the Oscar's?

P.S. how come when I used spell check it did not pick up on ´nanobots´-- what's going on here?

I like this one.
Of cores I would try to make money off of it. Only sell it to the rich? Maybe. Sell it to hospitals? Yeah. Take some myself? Probably not! I mean how fun would it really be to working for 300 years? I don't know about you but 100 years is long enough for me. Have only a short amount of time is what makes life special. That's what puts all the excitement into life. You know, make the most of your life. If you had 300 year to do it, I would think you would run out of stuff to do.

It would be illogical to do so. It would disrupt the natural order of things on Earth. The planet would be over run with people, then there would not be enough resources to go around. Eventually people would start to starve to death, defeating the purpose of living for ever.

Seriously, I'd use cryogenics and freeze myself until the rest of society caught up with my thoughts, values and ideas. And I hope cryogenics is the correct term. Go easy on me if it isn't ok? To tired right now to research.

Actually I'd pass it up, I feel I'm here to complete a task and when that's done, I'm looking forward to heaven where you are never sick, never grow old, and are there for eternity, so you see God already owns that company, and he's willing to share it with anyone free of charge.

I'd chop my head off, JUST to see how quick the bloody lil' critters REALLY were!

:P

Seriously though, that sort of technology could only ruin the world in the long run, I'd have to destroy it, sigh...

I would share it with everybody, that way we could all throw down.

Get rid of it. No death of those on earth, and adding constantly is not very conducive to life on this planet. We would kill it in no time at all.
