Even though I had a second interview with my present job with the OWNER of the company...it was short, VERY short, bittersweet, and quite to the point! He asked, I answered, he moved to the next question. I seriously thought I hadn't gotten the job....thought the same thing after the FIRST interview...but they called me the next day, with an offer, and I'm now working my rearend off to get this place straightened out, organized and updated on computer (30 years of FILES to go through and sort out and throw away after putting into computer!)

So I can't really answer....but I did find out I was hired because of experience, because I don't have small children, and I'm not YOUNG! That was the best bonus of all, because for once, I was hired because of AGE and EXPERIENCE....and that counted for something! I am taking the place of a lady who's been there for 27 years! :)

You know, my husband just went through this for about 6 months trying to find a job after our relocation to Texas....I always asked him what they could possibly need 2 interviews for, he said that the 2nd one had people a bit higher up in the chain of command present, and that they would pretty much go through the same types of questions, but you are being CLOSELY compared to each of the other people who got a second interview.....He did finally get a great job, but he went to several 2nd interviews for different companies before he got one.

One of the questions will be "Tell me about yourself." To this you should answer; "I would love to, where would you like me to begin?" If they ask an open ended question like that, always throw it back and get them to narrow it down.
You know what the weak points on your resume are, so do they. When they ask you about your career or last job, bring up those weak points before they do and defuse them as an issue.
Most importantly!
Whatever they ask; after you have answered ask them "is that what you were looking for?" or "Is that how you do it here?"
There are only so many questions they have prepared before hand. Make sure that you have closed out each question before you let them move on to the next one.
