i have search so many times that I thank my pc has gone nuts. How do I convert 771 Mb to Kb's? 11,116 fragnments... Any suggestions????

No matter how many times you defrag your hard drive, there will still be some files that are no completely defraged because the fragmentation in them is so low that Windows will not fix them.

To convert mb to kb, add three 000's to the end of the number, so 771mb is 771,000kb.

Defraging your HD will not help you to find a file. If you know part of the file name, or the extension, use the "Search" in the Start Menu to look for the file. If you know where the file is, but can not open it (rather than not find it) try running the "error checking" rather than the "defragment now".

To convert Mb to Kb multiply the 771 figure by 1024. The answer will be in Kb.

If your file won't defrag, it may be there are bad sectors on the disk.
Run a disk checking utility and try to clear the problem.

What is the name of the file. If it is the windows swap file, it will not defrag because it is in constant use.

try to defrag in safe mode.. what is your OS?
