I am 35, and have finally met the right guy. After being married for 14 yrs to a LOSER!! I already have 4 great kids ( oldest is 14 and youngest is 8). But, my guy only has one (13) and would like to have another, and since I have been with him, I would like to also.

I realize that we together already have a large family. That part doesn't really bother me. I am from a huge family. And he is from an average sized family. I guess I figure if we have one more than we have an even number....guess I just like those better. :)

My mom had my little bro when she was 35! He's a great kid!
I would have a talk with your other children and see how they feel about another baby in the house tho!
Congrats on meeting the right one! Some women never meet the right guy!
Good Luck!

First of all you are not to old. However you will be considered "advanced maternal age." I know this term seems silly, but to those of us that council pregnant women, we try to inform them that this is because the risk for genetic diseases such as downs syndrome does increase based on the age of the mother. The current risks for downs syndrome -baseline are set at the age of the mother being 35. That is when there begins to show an increase in incidence. I strongly suggest an Amniocentesis the more advanced the maternal age is to my patients. However, we leave that completely up to the patient and the spouse. The one clause that I do inform people of is this... If you do not mind raising a downs syndrome child, and/or if your amniocentesis shows an abnormality and you wouldn't do anything about it, don't get it done in the first place as there are some minimal risks with the procedure, and it wouldn't change the outcome.

I would suggest going to an OB/GYN high risk pregnancy specialist if your insurance covers it, just to cover all the bases. Everyone wants you to have a wonderful next baby, as wonderful as your previous babies have been... even more so if possible :) There's so much to be done these days, that women can successfully have children into their mid 40's with the right help at their side.

Good luck to you.
And Congrats on finding the right guy.

Fertility in women declines at age 32. With that being said, if you want to have a child I'd get on the stick and start trying now:) Go the doctor and have both you and your partner tested to make sure you both are healthy.

Map out your cycles and then attempt to conceive at the right times. One of the best books out there is called Take Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's a great book.

Now if you find that your fertility has declined, and your hormone levels are indicative that you have an egg issue, there are always donor eggs.

There are women over 50 years old having a baby.

I had my son at age 38.

Good luck, and congrats on being in a super relationship:)

Well, if you are too old, I am too :) I'm 35 and due in 3 weeks. It's not been quite as easy as my earlier pregnancy. I had some tearing in my old c-section scar that is pulling on my uterus and a ingunal hernia they can't fix until after the baby is born. I had some scary preterm labor due to excessive stress, that stopped for good a few weeks ago and just recently found I had low amniotic fluid. Of all of these things, not one is related to my age, any woman, any age can get them.

So my answer, HELL NO! Go for it. If you are in the position where you are able to handle adding one more beautiful child to your family, you should have nothing to worry about. Of course, see your OB before becomming pregnant, talk to your kids and get on prenatals now. That folic acid is a great addition to a pre pregnancy diet.

Ur as old as u feel. Go 4 it! As long as u 2 want a baby, nothing else should stand in ur way. I read in the newspaper 2day that a 62 yr old woman in England gave birth 2 a healthy baby boy. Good luck conceiving!

35 is not old. If you feel you want another child and your fella wants one, I see no reason why you couldn't try for one. See your OB/GYN first to make sure everything is ok. After you are clear of that, go for it. Have fun and I wish you all the luck.

35 is not too old especially if you have alreadyhad kids before. But it is always a good idea to check your health with you OB/GYN before you try to conceive just so you can be prepared if there are any complications.

What does your heart tell you? If you are in love and both of you want another child I say "why not?"
Remember, age is only a state of mind.
