Hi heather, if you are trying to set up your own website for personal use so you can put pictures on there and show your friends then I would persoanlly reccomend piczo. It is easy to use and free. You will have an adress such as www.watevayouwantotput.piczo.com. You can display up to 100 photos and have many pages. However if you want a site that is just your own name such as www. whatevayouwanttoput.com then you do have to pay. I can't help you here as I have never made one but out of all the website builders I have used I would definately reccomend www.piczo.com

Hello, Heather2Hubbard, and thanks for your question.

I guess whether or not you would have to pay for your Web site would really depend on if you're hosting your own site, or if you're going to upload it to another host.

Places like Geocities doesn't charge a dime to host Web sites, although a premium package is offered for those who want more features.

Places like 1&1 Hosting and GoDaddy, however, have payment plans for people who want to register their domain and host their own site.

So you see, Heather2Hubbard, how you choose to host your site will decide whether or not you will have to pay. Be sure to shop around at both options before making your decision, however, as some options will carry a little more freedom with them.

Thanks again for your question!

there are a couple of things to consider.
do yuo want your own dominname eg. www.heather.com etc
you need to go to a domain registrar www.godaddy.com or even yahoo can get you a domain for 14-20$ ayears
next comes hosting using godaddy you can either have them host a site or a monthly fee or just have your website point ot a free web based hosting service like geocities ,tripod and such

If you want to publish it on the web, you can search for sites that would host your website for free.. usually, they have ads/advertisments which are annoying and you can't have the domain name of your choice.

But If you want your own domain (ex. www.my-cooldomain.com) - then you have to register one at websites like godaddy.com, they are good for a year. Then you have to find a webhost to house your files, and you either have to pay monthly or yearly depends on you and depends on how much space you'll be needing. good luck with your site!

Go to Yahoo's geocities.com and you can get a free web site there. It includes a simple web building program (again free) that will get you started.
