There IS a way, but I doubt that it will ever happen.

Enough voters have to quit voting for candidates who run ads, or make statements, which are nasty, or do things that are nasty, unprofessional, or rude.

For example, when Ronald Regan debated President Carter, he stated that, if you believe my opponent has done a good job these last four years, vote for him. If not, vote for me. Regan was not uncivil toward his opponant, even if he very passionately disagreed with that opponent. This is why he was loved by millions.

That's fair. No need to call people names, or be nasty. The problem is, nasty people say and do nasty things. Quit voting for nasty people. Judge them by their words and actions. Judge them by their behavior, and act accordingly.

So, just don't vote for anyone who is disrespectful and nasty. Since a politician wants to win, if they know that being nasty will cause them to lose, they will stop.

The reason why I believe this will never happen, is that when a politician is nasty, millions of people relate to that politician, because they themselves are nasty. He's just doing what they want, and find no fault in it. The civility of the leaders reflects the civilization they lead.

Sad but true.

Birds of a feather are always civil to each other. Did you not watch the Bush Kerry election. Those bonesmen were too civil to each other. Besides American politics is about Foreign Policy and not about Kissing Cousins.

Publicly fund political campaigns. Remove the influence of K street from congress and elect honest people that actually care about making a difference, not making a buck.

The political parties want the strife becuase it helps raise massive amounts of money for their parties.

Once the flow of money from lobbyists dries up, maybe the average person can have the attantion of our politicians.

I don't want to sound like I'm preaching here but our whole society is uncivil to each other. Politics will only change when we the people demand it. We have the vote and access to the media, and correspondence and if we use those tools smartly the numbskulls that we keep putting in office will have to change. The question is when are we gonna be feed up enough to act?

They at times may "appear" to be civil to each other but it certainly is not sincere and never will be. Each party wants to be in power and will do what-ever it takes to do so. They may smile at one-another but when opportunity arrises, they will stab each other in the back in a heartbeat. When it seems they are being civil to each other, don't believe it. It's all BS

Vote for one party. Find which party best fits your believes then vote for that party only so they have the power to get something done.
